Interesting, but I do not spend a lot of time looking at my desktop. Minus the recycle bin, there is no other icon on my desktop. I do frequently use my quick launch, but that's it.
For me, this would be a purty resource hog, but it is purdy.

My background is a photo of the Space Station with Earth as the back drop and my stoopid recycle bin is in the lower left corner near the start button.

your desktop doesn't exist.
my desktop is littered with shared drives...
but quicksilver/spotlight/gnome do has nearly completely done away with my need for icons...thankfully.

You don't need a recycle bin icon.

Just buy a Mac already.
Shut up you Commie!
The business world runs on Windows, so take your overpriced, "fun to use" machine and go look at pictures.
Wow, that was a little harsh wasn't it.
However, MAC is not all it's cracked up to be - nor is Windows. However, Windows is a lot more functional in the real world than MAC.
Not true, my friend. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, but these days just about every program out there runs on either Windows or Mac.
Hell, you can even run Windows on an Apple computer.
Why anyone would want to is beyond me, though.

I disagree. From personal experience I have encountered many programs that are not available or will not run properly on MAC. The big programs like Office and others have versions for MAC, but a lot of the smaller productivity programs might not be compatible.
And the way MAC has survived is by finding ways to adapt Windows programs or Operating System (via Boot Camp, Virtual Machine, Crossover, etc.), so people can actually use them for business. All of that costs more money of course.
I am not saying that MAC is a complete POS, but you end up spending a lot more money than you should have to in order to run it in a mainstream business environment.

What about Veneers? They look like a "quick fix" from what I have seen on shows like Extreme Makeover. Do they stand up in the long run?
