My sound is working fine. But I just right clicked my sound card icon so I could mute the "line in" and it said I had no mixer devices. I went to the control panel, and it said I have no audio device. What the hell? I have sound! I just can't open the mixer. This is what it looks like.

Does anyone know what I should do to fix this? It was working fine a day or two ago, so I can try to restore to an earlier date. I would rather see if anyone knows another way to fix it first.

Sounds like Windows fucked the sound driver in some way. I wouldn't be surprised if you went into Device Manager, that you wouldn't see that it's running on a default audio driver, not the one that actually goes with your card.

I'd go into Device Manager, delete everything in the "Sound, video, and game controllers" heading, and restart the system. See if that gets it.

What default audio driver? Though it's 5.1 surround sound, it's integrated.

And I can't remember how to get to my device manager. I haven't had to do it in a long time.

EDIT: Never mind. I just restarted and everything is fine now. The last two days, I hibernated instead of shutting down. I guess something funky happened in the past 2 days.

The first time I clicked the link, it led me to a page for iPhone apps. The second time I clicked it, it led me to the page for wallpapers.

Coming out of hibernation your compy dropped or failed to load the driver for the mixer. It happens and can be fixed by a reboot. Make certain your audio drivers are up to date and make sure to reboot every few days.
