Hi, ladies. I had a question, that the answer to might help me get through a really tough time, but please, I really need honest answers, don't spare my feelings...

When you dump your boyfriend, is it always because he did something, like cheated, lied, did something stupid or disrespected you in some way? or have you ever dumped a guy that you were seeing for a while, like over a year, because you just felt he wasn't "right" for you?

And does it take that long to realize something like that?

or does that sound like something you would tell a guy if you just realized you were wrong to go out with him in the first place, and you realized he's a horrible loser of a guy and you just don't have the heart to tell him?

Please, I know most of you don't know me at all, but it would mean a lot to me if some of you wonderful ladies could help me out here.

Thanks so much

It all depends on the situation and what happened before you two met. Last guy I dumped it was just cause I liked him but not enough to want to stay with him and the one before that was 1. Because when I met him I was on the rebound and 2. He did/said some things that totally turned me off. It took me 3 months to figure that out.

People change and they grow apart. It really doesn't matter how lonng you are together sometimes people just change their minds about things. It may or may not have been anything you did or said, she may have just decided that it wasn't what she wanted anymore. Try not to dwell on it too much....just keep reminding yourself that it's her loss!

Oh no, another one of the infamous "rebound boyfriends"! Run!

Not to make light of Jerry's question... Is that another possibility? Without knowing the length of time he's talking about- do you girls actually go through a short term "rebound boyfriend"? My sister has done that but I was wondering if it's more common.

if i break up with a guy it's because i feel things arent working out or going anywhere - things just stay the same and they werent very exciting to begin with

I did the rebound boyfriend thing only that once. Thing is I was out at a bar with my ex and this guy talking to me seemed to irritate the ex to no end...the more irritated he got the more I wanted to hang out with the guy.
