Hey Oracle! How ya been? You know how you learn the colors of the spectrum when you're a kid...the whole R O Y G B I V thing?

Well I've been wondering about something. We all use the first 5 colors in our every day lives. Something is red, orange, yellow, green, or blue. How often do we describe something as "indigo" or "violet"? We don't. We just say blue or purple. What the fuck is indigo anyway?

Just wonderin'.

Have a good one!

Do some research old man

Indigo is the color on the electromagnetic spectrum between about 420 and 450 nm in wavelength, placing it between blue and violet. Although traditionally considered one of seven divisions of the optical spectrum, modern color scientists do not usually recognize indigo as a separate division and generally classify wavelengths shorter than about 450 nm as violet.[2]
Indigo and violet are different from purple, which cannot be seen on the electromagnetic spectrum but can be achieved by mixing mostly blue and part red light.
One can see spectral indigo by looking at the reflection of a fluorescent tube on a non-recorded compact disc. This occurs because the CD functions as a diffraction grating, and a fluorescent lamp generally has a peak at 435.833 nm (from mercury), as is visible on the fluorescent lamp spectrum.

Yeah, I can cut and paste from Wikipedia too, shit head. I'm talking about the actual color itself. Can you look at something and say "That's indigo!" Or do you simply call it blue or purple?

We should just get rid of indigo and violet and make it R O Y G B P

I only say indigo when I talk about my favorite band. And violet about my favorite Willy Wonka character.
