View Full Version : Browser roll call
What do you use?
I've been using Chrome and have grown to like it so much, I ditched Firefox.
EDIT: Actually, I should say that Chrome doesn't support ABC.com's full episode player yet, so I am stuck using IE for that. Kind of wish I'd of kept Firefox around for when I use that.

This thread reminds me of one of my all time favorite posts:
I am not a computer geek or know the lingo, so what is it? The only Browser I know of is a fire breathing dragon with spikes on his back.

safari on my macbook. firefox if i'm ever on pc.
Although I'm a Mac guy through and through I've never warmed up to Safari. I use Firefox and Camino, which is another Mozilla build. It's a streamlined Firefox and I've never had a problem with it whatsoever. Can't say the same for Safari and Firefox, particularly when it comes to properly displaying certain sites.

i never liked firefox on a mac. it just annoys me for how slow it is. safari is ok, but the beta for safari 4 has a lot of bugs that i haven't patched yet. i just reinstall when it starts bugging out. i may look into camino.

You will LOVE Camino. It's blazing fast, and like I said, it properly displays every web site I've ever been to. Even in this day and age I still encounter sites that Safari will not align properly or Firefox will not show embedded video on. That's never the case with Camino.
Download it here. (http://caminobrowser.org/)

been a mac user since around 5 years after the hammer was thrown
Always love the mac os, since it was a real os, not like windows, the interface built upon unix. Hell, I liked warp. So it goes.
Firefox is great!

Because of this thread, I've started using Chrome, and though there are some features (Adblock) that I would love to have, the speed is great and I love the layout of it. I'll probably go between this and Firefox for a while.

again? i use firefox for everything except rf.net, for which i use chrome. (my computer has issues that page down and scrolling don't work on any browser but chrome and it's painful reading a messageboard without that ability.)

I'll try Chrome when each tab isn't it's own separate process.

it's one of their main points. why would they get rid of it?

Because I leave a lot of tabs open, which leads to Chrome to use WAY more resources than FF. Also, outside of it's "lower" resource usage Chrome has no other benefits in any way that I'm interested in.

i'm just saying i would be surprised if they changed that feature.

I get you, I'm just arguing that that "feature" is really just lazy design. One of the applications I manage for work needed a tabbed browsing feature, my designers tried to pass the multiple process design off as a feature to me as well and it's the same thing, they were too lazy to code the tab functions properly.

Not to sound like a noob but what's the difference?
As an aside does anyone find the redheaded chick Lauren in the new Windows commercial hot as hell? The one trying to find a laptop for under 1000 bucks. I dig her.

Load time, layout, and ability to organize.

Opera FTW. It pisses me off that apple shut denied Opera's browser app while allowing other browsing apps. I would kill to have that on my iPod touch.

I've heard that Chrome is rather slow. Also, without offering support for Mac yet, I will continue using Firefox and also Safari from time to time.
