This is what a Batman game should be. And they are using most of the same voice actors from the animated series including Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. I cannot wait.

Good news is, it's available for PC, so I'll have it 2 days before it hits shelves.

Every Best Buy and Target around here has a demo up on their PS3's...

PROs: Looks good, controls are relatively tight, the characters are well animated, good sounds

CONs: No bat-weapons usuable in demo (there better be bat-weapons!), almost comes off a bit "Final Fight"ish.

I hope that the demo doesn't demonstrate the WHOLE game, because it would get boring for me really quick.

For me it will be worth at least a rental, depending on what else I hear from people/places.

I just wanted to pop up here to say this game exceeded its yype in every way imaginable. It's has a GTA-like sandbox layout but also has elements of Metroid/Castlevania games in that there are certain areas all over the map that are only accessible after gaining certain abilities. It has stealth elements kind of like Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell except you always feel as if you are stalking your prey. If you screw up royally enemies with guns can take you down but you have so many options to attack your prey it becomes a matter of how imaginatively you can neutralize your enemies. It feels exactly how Batman would operate. You can even do that move where Batman slides down a rope upside down behind an enemy and takes him out and hangs him from a gargoyle.

It has beat em up elements like God of War or Ninja Gaiden, although simpler. It's detective mode is similar to scanning in Metroid Prime. It's story is written by Paul Dini who was behind The Animated Series and also features most of the same voice actors. This isn't an Animated Series game though, this game has it's own take on Batman.

It's like this game took a shitload of the best elements of the best video games today and melded them together where EVERYTHING works. And on top of that they take all the best features from all the Batman movies and use it to create their own incredible story and Batman universe. I really can't oversell this game. It's the best thing I've played all year. Nothing else is even close.

I think you can skip some of the cinematics. You have to push some buttons, and then a prompt shows up, basically saying "push this to skip".

You have to treat the Wii as a separate gaming entity and supplement it with a 360 or PS3.

They aren't actually "riddles." The Riddler challenges consist of finding trophies, destroying Joker teeth that are scattered around levels, taking pictures of certain items in a level based on a hint the Riddler gives you and taking a picture of a hidden Riddler logo that can only be seen in detective mode. Finding them all is not overly difficult at all.

I was disappointed when they stopped trying to compete in terms of graphics and hardware being a Nintendo fan. But I eventually got a PS2 and a few months ago a PS3 as well. But I also enjoy the Wii, and it's the best selling console so I guess Nintendo knew what they were doing.

It wasn't based on that story. Arkham Asylum existed prior to Grant Morriosn's story and was created by Dennis O'Neil in the '70's inspired by HP Lovecraft stories.

The videogame itself is based upon a story by Paul Dini that he wrote specifically for this videogame.

The thing is, if they did put all the other villains in this game, then once the inevitable sequel gets released everyone starts complaining about fighting the same bad guys as the first game.

This way, there's a whole stable of A-list villains left for next time.

Is there any trick to the fight with the electrical floor in the penitentiary?, I beat it but I all I did was jump around during the "on" parts, didn't really feel like the way Batman would have done it

As TooLowBrow said, as soon as the floor starts flickering, climb the sides to one of the other floors. I didn't figure it out the first time I beat it either.

Spirit of Amadeus Arkham revealed

To get this, you have to find the final Chronicle of Arkham. It doesn't show up
on the map, and it's in the Penitentiary.

Head to the Security Control Room (the room south of the Green Mile)
and head up the stairs in the middle in the room. This was where Quincy Sharp
was behind held. Look on the floor and you should see the "Batman" repeatedly
inscribed in a circle. Scan this for the final chronicle.
