I have a special loathing in my heart for flippers.

People that buy stuff only to turn it around and sell it for $.

Taking advantage of folks that are genuinely interested in something.

Point of all of this is:
I have a co-worker here that is big into that whole Jam-band scene. She asked me for help in trying to get Phish tickets. The cost was $198, but due to the interest for them, they were going for thousands online. Her rational is that if she can get a pair, that will basically be her fun-fund for the summer.

I told her that I dont believe in flipping and wont help her.

Am I being solid on my principle, or am I just being an ass?

She is a scalper, plain and simple.

Scalpers ruin it for the rest of us that try to get tickets the normal way. It ridiculous how much the service fees are on tickets these days, but I still only get tickets through normal websites or go on message boards where people sell tickets for face value.

I don't mind buying from scalpers if I'm DYING to see that game/show but it also means I probably will only be able to go to one or two events a year. I usuallly just go to StubHub.com and see if any of the prices are worth it.

Yes, we have all gone against our principles in some indirect way. It is very difficult not too. But here he has a very easy opportunity not to do so. He's the one vocalizing how much he's so against it, so why have any part of it?

if someone else benefits from doing something you feel is wrong = bad.
