...do you think actively participate on fan sites and message boards?

Guys like Ron and Fez and O and A may have a slightly higher rate because their shows are so interactive, but I bet it's fairly even across the board.

I'm guessing less than 5 percent.

I meet people at Ron and Fez events all the time who say they're long time fans but never joined the board.

I kind of respect them a little bit more, to be honest.

I think in that respect, the all encompassing nature of this board cuts down on participating in other places.

For instance, I occassionally browse the mets.com message board. But its filled with such insane retards I never get involved. This place has a Mets thread for me to get involved with (also with insane retards).

Same for a band or movie. I can participate in all that I'm a fan of here including Ron and Fez.

going to an event or posting on a board? fans are fans. a real fan will blow you in a coat room or broom closet. and a real fan will give you a 50 mississippi head start on the exit.

Aside from R&F and O&A, I don't think there are a whole lot of entertainers/shows with fan sites like RF.net. Is there a Howard Stern site? Maybe I don't get out enough. The funny thing is that about 10-20% of what goes one here is even connected to the show. Come for the Ron & Fez, stay for the flame wars.

Stern has the Stern Fan Network and it is a message board. Kevin Smith is all about interacting with his fans. he has a message board that he is very active on.

i never even thought of joinin a messageboard or spending time on the nets til i heard ron and dave talkin about .net and FBA last summer,i thought it was cool to hear that fans get together for softball games and events,plus i wanted to catch up on the buddays from the last 10 years and you people have been great.are we countin the people that post once and thats it?when i first came here there was a guy that had been signed up for awhile,made one post to ask about me and i havent seen him since. i have a few friends up here that listen to r&f but never would think about a messageboard,i'd say it is less than 1%

I venture to guess that of those 381 not all are "active poster"

If that represents ~ 5 % of their fans base that makes a fan base of ~7600 people.

Seems awfully low for a national radio show

True for me too. I am a member of some other message boards like Extreme Tech, overclockers.com, and a Ford truck enthusiast site (which I only post questions) but rarely post at any of those.
