Okay, who's going?
I had to buy single day passes. I'm staying in Oceanside which is about 30 minutes north of SD on the freeway. It's way cheaper plus its right on the beach. $100 a night compare to $300+ for downtown San Diego.

The grand daddy of them all...
The San Diego Comic Convention
http://www.comic-con.org/
Every comic book/scifi/geek should go at least once. Imagine NY Comic Con but 100x bigger. What makes San Diego special (besides all the companies holding off there big announcements for this event) is that it's in the heart of downtown San Diego. a bunch of bars, and the beach right around you. Going to TJ was also an option but the drug war as fucked up that city so much its not even funny.

I went a couple times when I lived in San Diego and it was ok, but I didn't see the point of going yearly. It's basically a giant flea market with some interview panels and movie sneaks.
