Its a new sales tool for Warner Brothers. All those movies that were met with less then enthusiastic welcome by stores that sell DVDs can now be ordered directly from wanerarchives.com. They print retail quality DVDs on demand and ship them in plastic cases with liner notes and photo labels.
If you like classic cinema its worth checking out. Warner has started this out with 150 titles and the plan is to expand until everything they own is available. A couple of my old favorites are there, Cary Grant's Mr Lucky ,and Jimmy Stewart's Carbine Williams. This summer they will ad some TV shows too. The rumor is that Maverick will be one of them and I'll definitely go back for that when its available.
The DVD's are 19.95,I'm not sure how many TV eps you'll get for that, but with movies its one per disc.
I wonder if this is as big a success as it seems like it will be, if other big studios will follow the on demand business plan.
Do you have any movie that isnt available because there just isnt enough demand to put it on the shelf in a video store?
