Season starts today.

New York Red Bulls are currently losing to the Seattle Sounders, the newest expansion team, partly owned by Drew Carey.

Anyone else watching?

I'm watching. Great atmosphere in Seattle. I think they have a shot to win the MLS Cup. Very strong offense. Freddie Ljungberg will only help them when he is fit to play. New York looks so terrible. But its only game 1.

Please. I used to watch the Seattle Sounders back in the 70s when they were in the NASL and used to get their asses kicked soundly by my New York Cosmos.

One thing I love about the Sounders is that Drew Carey implemented the system that FC Barcelona in Spain uses. Every fan who has season tickers or is part of the Sounders Membership Club all have a vote. The all members of the club control the fate of the GM. Meaning, after I think 3-4 years, if the fans are unhappy with the way the team is going they can vote out the GM. Its totally legit. The owners would have to fire the GM.

Just think about how all sports leagues would be if every team did that. Fans would actually have a stake in the team.

I love MLS. I watch as many games in HD as I can. The crowd in Seattle tonight was in full voice for the entire match. It came across like an NFL playoff game - which means the atmosphere was electric.

Good job by Seattle.

Now, we need to get St. Louis into the league. It's a much better soccer town than Vancouver and Portland...even though I understand why Van/Por were awarded franchises.

I think St. Louis and New York 2 get in at the 19th and 20th teams for 2012. Unless Montreal finally pays the expansion fee or Ottawa gets a stadium approved.

Brooklyn's getting a USL team as well.

NYRB play in NJ, but supposedly the next MLS team awarded to NY will actually play in NY.

Two games tonight on Fox Soccer Channel:

8:00 p.m. - Houston Dynamo vs. Columbus Crew

10:30 p.m. - Chivas USA vs. Colorado Rapids

Sunday game on Telefutura:

3:00 p.m. - LA Galaxy vs. DC United

Its supposed to rain on us for Sundays Galaxy game. Which sucks because the only reason this game is being played at noon (pacific) is because it's being televised on Telefutura.

If you're waiting for the El Salvador vs. USA game, you can watch the New York Red Bulls vs. New England Revolution on FSC.

It's disappointing to see NFL lines on the field for NYRB's first home game. Such a turnoff to see MLS games with those lines.
