Hardest/Best Boss in a Game

Who was the hardest, most insane, or fun boss you fight in a videogame?

For me the hardest end-boss was whatever the hell you fought at the end of Ninja Gaiden on NES- not because it was that tough to beat, but if you lost once, you had to go all the way to the beginning of the hardest level, which was 2 levels away from the boss. Oh and you had to fight 3 of the boss fuckers in a row without dying and without your health getting restored for each battle.

The boss I recently played against and hated was the midget lord in Resident Evil 4, after he morphs into that Cthulu like monster..

You sit there waiting to snipe the eye, and then the midget when he comes out, but then you have those Las Plagas scorpions coming around and bothering you. just took a long time to deal with it.

But there was probably an easier way to beat him.

it kicked ass if you were willing to spend the 5 hours it took to kill him. You would have to look for him with sonar and shit and when you found him, he would leave after a few energy bars went down, and when you found him again he was half healed. It took FOREVER

I think that we have been trained to "multi-task" while gaming. Back in the day it was the Atatri 2600 with one joystick and one button. On the NES you had sometimes worry about the select button. Now, the controlers directional pads, thumb sticks, buttons, triggers... there's so much going on you can't rest.

Oh cool. I used to play Final Fantasy XI Online also (Ragnarok and Cait Sith servers). Some of the more recent bosses were unbeatable after 18+ hour battles. They have been toned down somewhat, but still hard. I quite because I got really tired of doing end-game, camping and HNM for hours only to lose it to some botting JP linkshell. Bastards.


The hardest boss, and maybe the hardest/most annoying game, was Ghost & Goblins....or Ninja Gaiden for Xbox. Both games you could end up putting TONS of time into, and could be at the end of the game and unable to finish it due to lack of items/certain weapons. Shit sucks.

I stopped because it was too much of a time sink to get shit done at later levels. I thing I got the the 2nd level break quest (55 or 60?) and stopped.

The revenge of Shinobi boss was hard cause you had to throw stars in some hole in order to stop shinobi's chick from being killed while you fight the boss. You could let her die and beat the boss. I never saved her but considered the game beat when the boss died.
