So do ya? Cigarette vending machines used to be the adults gumball machine. Now they're gone.

They're still around in cities and states where the fun police haven't assumed total control.

I miss them. I hate asking people to get my ciggs, its degrading. I want a cold hard machine dispensing death to me.

I remember the evolution from the pull-handle variety to the push-button variety.

There is still one at my favorite bar.

the dive bar in Easton where we hang has one as well and you are able to smoke inside as well.

I remember them out in the streets and they still are in Germany... but I remember when a pack was sooo cheap and even cheaper when I first came here... it wasn't even 2 bucks per pack back then.

The same bar here with the machine also lets people smoke inside. It's kind of nostalgic.

there used to be one right next to a toy machine in a Duchess. on tuesday nights, there used to be a old car convention in their parking lot - the coolest, greatest cars every invented, with great music. those nights, i would beg people for money for the video games, and then actually use it on the cig machine.

I don't even smoke anymore but I miss those machines.

I used to get my smokes out of the machine in the bowling alley when I was a kid. How long ago was that, Blowhard fans?

They cost 45 cents.

They used to have these machines in the Denny's right by my place. It rocked because that was where we would buy smokes because none of the gas stations around my place would sell to us. I've only seem them in one bar around here now, but the newer style vending machines have cigs in all the strip clubs here.

I just got home from a bachelor party at a "Gentlemen's Club" and lo and behold, there was an old school cigarette vending machine there.

It fascinated me more than the skanks on stage.

There's a white trash bar around the corner from me that still has one fully operational, but you're not using your spare change to get them. They're somewhere around $9 a pack.

Not only do I remember them, I remember getting quarters from the cashier to buy them for my mom and grandpa.
I saw a machine about a week ago in a strip club.. 5.25 a pack....

i was only 8 or 9 years old

my brothers, cousins and i took them out to the parking lot
and started a small fire and threw them in on by one

it happened at the rockaway point yacht club in breezy point
where parents didnt care when a group of 9 year olds started fires

If I'm at a "gentleman's club"... I buy them from the gentleman in the bathroom. Usually served with a couple of shots of Burberry eau de toilette and a towel.

no, just the machine that dispenses them.

i was independence ohio last week in a small closet like room when coming out of the bathroom there was a pull type machine that took paper im only 22 did they ever take paper or just coins???????

I am just going to guess that they were adjusted over the years... since cig's cost like a buck or two at first coins were probably fine, but no they are between 5-10 bucks so they have to take notes

I remember there used to be one in Friendly's when I was a kid, those are long gone. But a couple bars I go to still have them, and I'm fairly sure they're the pull handle kind. I would bet down south they're more common and you might still find them in restaurants and such since you can smoke indoors down there.

They were always next to candy dispensers and arcade games where I grew up. When I think about 'em, I still get hungry cuz I wanted there to be some kinda amazing candy for grownups that you'd get in them mysterious machines.

At the Original KFC in Corbin, Kentucky, they have a museum and such a machine exists. I seen it a few days ago and brought back memories. Notice, there are no "Light" cigs.

any filter cigarette could be considered light compared to original cigs. heck, even camel regulars were considered "mild" at the time. note the orange section where they are referred to as "mildest" and also the crack-like free trial period to get you hooked.

It always seemed that when I needed a light, the machine would never eject the matches with the pack. However, when I didn't need a light, there were always a few books laying in the bin...

The attendant in the first floor grandstand mens room at Monmouth Park used to sell loose cigs for a nickel.

My buddies and I used to hang out at a local dump when we first turned 21. The bartender was a mean, nasty old guy in his 70's and we loved him. He was genuinely annoyed when someone made him get up and get them a drink. He preferred sitting down, drinking his whiskey and smoking his Camels while watching TV to actually working.

One time I asked him for change for the cigarette machine (which was in the hallway by the entrance) and he handed me a few extra bucks in quarters and asked me to get him a pack while I was out there. I asked him "filters or no filters?" He responded "Are you kiddin' me? Smoking a filtered cigarette is like sucking a nipple through the bra."

We need more men like this.

Here in Saint Louis every bar has one, but the bartender has to turn it on after you show him/her ID. Cigs here in this dump of a town cost 3.49. So if anyone wants a couple cartons cheap lemme know. I'm always up for some inter-state trafficking.

Hi-tech jobbies here(Japan). But, in order to prevent the kids from purchasing them, you have to sign up for a scan-card (literally mail away for it). 3 bucks a pack though...

i worked in a bar in new jersey and we still had one. i don't think anyone used it but the employees, but it still worked. it wasn't regulated at all, either. any kid of any age could have walked up and used the thing. i have seen others where you have to ask for a special coin from the bartender or something, but not this one. i am sure there are more out there if you look is shady enough locations.

Yeah, back in the day occasionally one could get a free pack of smokes bysometimes if you yanking the the handle real hard. Instead of not coming out at all, the handle would come right on out and you'd get a pack of cigarettes.
When there were people around we'd walk by the machine and quickly reach out and try one of the knobs at random. Other times when no one was around we'd go down the row trying every one.
Even if we struck gold and it was only a pack of Tarytons, we were happy.....

I wish I was around in the days of the rotary coin slot cigarette vending machine.

I'd be a thousandaire.

They never thought a person would trace a quarter on cardboard, cut it out and rotate it endlessly for unlimited cigarette goodness.
