I'm tearing up the carpet in my bedrooms and I can't decide between bamboo floors or saltillo tile. Half of my house is already done in saltillo.

i like bamboo floors better... the salitllo is nice, but it seems like it would be really cold. no one wants to step on that when they get out of bed.

for a bedroom I would say wood but it depends on where you live. If it gets really really hot and humid then tiles are the way to go.
never mind, saw you are in FL on your myspace... go with the tile!
I always tear up the carpet in my bedroom..

i think the wood floors give it a warmer feeling. tiles seem to industrial for a bedroom.

it's true but in Florida or Texas and Cali I think it is very common... terracotta tiles or marble to help keep the house feel cooler.

Either one would work, I think. My house already has a pretty tropical decor, and as Katja said ten and a half months out of the year cold floors ain't a bad thing in Florida. I'm familiar enough with saltillo as it already covers my kitchen, dining room, hallways and one of my bathrooms. I have friends who have the bamboo floors and I really like them and from what I've been told they're durable as hell. I'm torn.

I prefer wood in all rooms except for the kitchen and baths - then again I live in the northeast. If I had pets or lived in hot climates then I'd definitely go with tile.

i too like wood better except for kitchen & bath. but since you are in florida it's better to go with tile. the cold probably won't bother you as much.

I may have to go back to tile then. The bamboo and the pandas may burn, and that would make me very sad.

Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource. So you'd get points for loving mother earth.
