Fucking crazy... Not too much longer and it may be affordable to do something like that.

Well, I think what we're going to see very soon is a much clearer delineation between SSD's and hard disc drives. That is, your computer will run the OS and applications from a SSD, because it's so much faster. But because hard disc drives will probably be far cheaper per GB of storage space into the forseeable future, you'll probably also have a hard disc drive you use to store your porn on.
Yeah, SSD's are sweet. I wish that the makers of that video had just stuck to showing how sweet it is and cut all the musical theatre shit.

one of the issues is how many times you can write on it. They look awesome in this demo, and a lot of large scall DB apps runs in configurations like this.

The 0.8 second DVD rip was pretty cool.

This makes me smile. I can't wait to have a super duper fast PC.
The future!

My dual core dual Opti could benefit from at least one of these SSDs but give me even a fraction of what they have set up and I would not know what to do with this computer. The Raptors in it I think are fast, SSDs make Raptors look like shit running up hill.

ok that was just sick. i'm impressed but SSDs are just a wee bit too pricey at the moment.

my problem is the small storage space. It is great that it can rip a DVD in 8 seconds, but you can only store a small amount of content on the actual drive

Very cool demo.
I'm looking forward to the inevitable price drop in SSD drives that will make using them practical.
