View Full Version : Yoko didn't break up the Beatles
Seriously people, get it over. Its fucking lame.
The Beatles broke up for countless reasons, but can we finally be honest with ourselves and stop blaming Yoko Ono. John fell in love, get it over.

John and Ringo were the two oldest members of the Beatles. When the band split up they were 30 years old. Paul was 28 and George was 27.
Just think about that for a minute.
Those guys accomplished so much and were famous world wide and they were kids while they were doing it.
Being together as often as band members are, I'm surprised they all don't break up after a few years, especially as they grow older and their priorities and interests change.

My favorite factoid that came out of the whole clusterfuck that came to be known as "Chinese Democracy" is that the Beatles' entire career, from the first shows at The Cavern to the rooftop show at Apple Corps, was less time than it took to record that piece of shit.

Awww thanks.
Led Zeppelin's entire career, from their first gigs as the New Yardbirds, to Bonzo choking to death on his own puke, also took less time than it took to record that suckfest.

What?
Yoko is an easy target, mainly because we cant see why john would fall for her, an attractive woman we could see but yoko is atrocious.

I think its safe to reveal now that Yoko, indeed, did break up the Beatles.
It was an Asian plot, launched in the late 1960's to wipe out any competition for the band that we handpicked to rule the music world. It took close to 10 years, along with the "accidental" deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Mama Cass and Janis Joplin, but we finally ensured the plan's ultimate success.
It all came to fruition with the release of this album.

My cousin's (through marriage) buddy's dad was in Hermans Hermits and quit about a month before they hit (apparantly he felt they weren't going anywhere). He's still bitter about it to this day.

You can't see why John was in Yoko?!?
1. Yoko - had a place in NYC avant-garde scene she ran with Cage, Mekas, Beuys, and Nam June Paik - to name only a few! I can see this being important to John, considering he wanted to be regarded as an artist and not a pop-star.
This isn't to say she was merely a gateway for him, but that her stock was really high, at the very least.
2. Yoko's art, whether you like it or not, was strong stuff. There's plenty to like about someone who's art can communicate effectively. Who hasn't fallen for a songwriter, gallery curator, painter or otherwise, in their lifetime??
3. She was challenging and engaging. What more does a man need?
You're a fool.

Are you discounting both John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band AND Yoko Ono/ Plastic Ono Band?
Or just her record?
Lennon's has some killer tracks!

Plastic Ono Band was John's strongest solo album. It stands up still today.
And it was the other group wives that broke up the band, they hated Yoko and excluded her thereby excluding John and causing the final rift.

Everyone hated Yoko, and for good reason. She basically took over speaking for John and making his decisions when he was smacked out of his mind and inserted herself ino their songwriting and recording sessions, something none of them ever involved their significant others in until that point. Yoko was a HUGE factor in breaking up the band, and anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly mentally unstable.
Did she do it on her own? No, Paul was turning into Li'l Mr. Dictator and trying to turn the band's management, rights and finances over to Linda's dad, which is supremely dickish, when the other three all wanted to go with the Stones' manager.
Couple those things with John and Paul both still treating George like hired help and you've got why they broke up.

Yes, I love Plastic Ono Band from 1970. I was referring more to this piece of shit that features Yoko's warbling all over it.
