All-time 'What If' Band

I don't know if this thread has already been done in another form, I looked and didn't find anything.



So I ask you this fellow buddays, what is the ultimate band that should have been more successful/prolific/together longer than they were? What is the one band that when you hear you can't help but say 'what if...'?

Now this doesn't necessarily mean a death. I think Guns 'n' Roses fits the bill. What if Axl wasn't a short tempered, power hungry maniac? They seemed like the new Rolling Stones when they first came out and, for one reason or another, never had the sustaining reign that they should have. Or maybe an album was so ahead of its time, 'what if (insert album) came out 10 years later'?



I nominate: Sublime. What if Bradley Nowell didn't die of a heroin overdose?

They only had 2 real studio albums with Bradley (not counting Robbin' the Hood). Their music is so unique and Brad had such a great voice. I thought he was the biggest musical loss of the 90's (I'm looking at you Cobain). I listen to them at least a couple times a week 12 years after they had new material. I wish more than anything that there was more of it but I'm thankful for what I got.

looking through my itunes for my best answer, i really think my ultimate "What if..." is, what kind of music would Frank Zappa have put out if he was just able to live longer. He was just so inventive and progressive, if we had 15 more years of his materials i couldn't imagine what they would be like
