I did this yesterday- cut XM and picked up a 1 yr sub to audible. I found I was only ever listening to R&F anyway- made sense, since I was starting to have trouble with reception at work. If I really start to miss O&A, or if their show cranks it up a bit, I'll add the best of XM to our sirius account.
So far so good, but I am 2 days behind the current show.

Is "switing" like "twiting"? I don't get it.

I dropped XM months ago for the same reason. I like O&A but not that much but love R&F...:smoke: I download the show every day & love it... Saves me time & money!!!

i really like listening live even though i never call in or anything. i'd feel funny listening to shows a few days old. though the extra money could help at times.
i'm going to miss the online feed. that was always great for work.

I listen one day behind usually.
For usenet people: alt.binaries.opie-and-anthony
Shows are usually posted by some kind folks in 96kbps within an hour of the show's end. O+A too.

I usually listen on the next day, so I love Audible. Just like dealing with an ipod over the inno. Still have XM though, to plug into my car, those FM modulators for the ipod, don't really work as good.
Because of changes at my job, I haven't been able to listen live since last summer and I normally have to catch it on weekend replays, which really puts me out. At least with Audible I could be in a little more control. As much as it pains me, I think I'm going to have to cancel the XM and get the 1 year Audible sub (and knock on wood it's worth it).

I have had audible for the last year and its really good because you can pause the show and listen to it later or whenever you want. Also, when you go away you can catch everything you have missed. However, sometimes it misses entire episodes. Also, you do not get the extra shows like on Superbowls and Oscars and big ass simulcasts. I'm having trouble with my account though right now. I havent had an audible show since Feb 20th. Anybody else having problems with it?

I switched about a year ago. I had an online XM account but I only had that to justify the fact I was downloading the show elsewhere. What I like best is that you can download it in audio book format, so you can go away and listen to music and the show is exactly where you left it. There are the occasional issues with Audible like show being posted late or the segments being in the wrong order. However, I believe most of those issues come from the R&F staff and the show has been getting up a lot earlier since Earl left.

I'm not having any problems. Are you sure your subscription hasn't expired?

I prefer to record it myself, which will require me to make another subscription, but I like knowing I'm gonna have it whenever, also being able to record Ron Bennington Interviews and stuff like that. Also I don't want anything cut from the show afterward. IE the Al Roker debacle.

I don't think i'll ever get rid of my satellite subscription. I love not having to search for channels while driving. It's just too convenient. Since I love the idea and the delivery, i'll always support it.
do the audible downloads come in mp3 format or are they the .aa format that Audible's audiobooks use ?

nope. i support my radio buddays and send $10.45/month (i pay every three months) strait to the corporate basdards that keep them on my satalite receiver. i choose to pay for the things i like and pass on the things i don't. not my goddamn fault i was born in a capitalist system.

Huh? We're capitalists, too, no? We're paying a subscription fee, as well...

I would have to guess that an Audible sub is less important to AFRO then a XM sub. You don't need all those pesky satellites to do audible content. The shows themselves are paid for by XM and without subscribers to that ....... just saying.
What would make me happy is a little better replay schedule for R and F. I love O and A but let R and F have a evening replay say 7 to 10.

I get audible, but I wish they had the extra shows as well.
