BYU drew Texas A&M in the first round for the second straight season. This happened because of a quirk in the bracketing process. NCAA tournament staff members said repeat games aren't against the principles of bracketing, but they do try to avoid them. The committee got boxed in during bracketing and couldn't move BYU, which has to play in a Thursday-Saturday first-and-second round that feeds into a Thursday-Saturday regional because of rules against playing on Sunday at the LDS-sponsored school. Texas A&M beat BYU in the first round in Anaheim, Calif., last season.

Instead of watching two teams no one really cares about play the "play in game", wouldn't it be more interesting to watch the "last 4 in" play the "last 4 out" for the final 4 spots? Rather than watch a team win a game just to inevitably get destroyed in the real tourny.

Some more thoughts, I actually think all of the 1 seeds have a fatal flaw.

UNC-Lawson's toe. He's already out of the opening game and who knows after that. They stand no chance if he can't play in the sweet 16. He's the most important player on that team.

Pitt-If Blair gets into foul trouble, which is a good possibility, and has to miss time, they blow. On a number of times this year that I watched, there offense goes to shit when he sits. If he has to face a big body, which he will when they play FSU and their 7+ center, they're not gonna make it out alive.

UConn-3-3 since Dyson went out for the year. I know one was to Pitt and the other in 6 OT's, but I just don't think they are the same team without him. I think the top of their bracket should allow them to make a run, but I think it bites them against Memphis.

Louisville-Probably the least glaring issue. But I must have watched them 10-15 times this year and let me tell you, they do not have a reliable ball handler during crunch time. If they get pressed late in a game, they will turn it over. I think they'll be able to get away with it.


I honestly think the 2 seeds might be in better shape. Oklahoma has the best player in the country, should be fully healed from the time off. Memphis could easily win the championship, they almost did last year. Duke has a spark I haven't seen from a Duke team in years, moving Scheyer to point and playing Elliot Willams makes all the difference with that team. Michigan State is clearly the best in their conference and Izzo knows how to win a championship.

I can't wait til noon tomorrow.

I still say its UNC over Louisville if Lawson is healthy.
