Well, picking the West Virginia Inbreds and the Clemson Hayseeds to stand up and be men has taken me out of contention early.
Fortunately, I'm emotionally mature enough to handle it and only wish the kids on those teams and everyone associated with those programs to have lives filled with disappointment, chagrin and regret (rather than falling into a bucket of AIDS, like an immature person might). :innocent:

Please tell me I am not the only one who feels Duke gets every damn call. My god, I love the ACC, but last night was ridiculous! Tie game under a minute and the ref who just happens to be standing next to Coach K at half court mind you, calls an over the back foul that occurred under the basket???
I hope you guys are right about the entire Big East - I'm not sold top to bottom - and Villanova beats the snot out of the dukies tomorrow.
If not Nova, I see no way Duke without a solid presense down low can handle Blair and Pitt.

A combo of three Big East teams held the number one spot for the majority of the year, they got three number one seeds - first time ever, and will have more players on the all-american teams. I think its been pretty evident.

There was an argument all year about ACC vs Big East. Now I wouldn't be shocked at all if Duke or UNC made the Final Four or even won it all, but now its clear that the Big East is better all around. Cuse, Nova making runs while Clemson, Wake didn't even win a game.
And no offense to Nolan Smith but if I have to see his life story again on ESPN I'm gonna lose my mind.
Duke/Villanova might be the most I've ever anticipated a college basketball game. It's gonna be a thing of beauty. Can't wait til it gets going again.

I am with you on the Nolan Smith story; it has played on Sportscenter for at least a week now!
I am typically an ACC apologist, but this year aside from Carolina and Duke, the conference sucks - the NCAA tournament shows just that. The showing by the Big East is by far the most dominant I have ever witnessed by one conference, it helps they added Louisville a few years ago among others. And when a conference has a sorry excuse for a bubble team like my Hokies competing for a bid, it just can't be considered one of the best!
Don't count out the Louisville/Arizona game. Arizona has beaten some solid teams this year and have 3 first round picks. The one knock on Louisville is they seem to tighten up towards the stretch in close games, can't hit free throws.

Zona has a legit shot. You are right about Louisville. I watched them a dozen times this year, they DO NOT have someone who can handle the ball in a close game, being pressed. Williams is not that player. It will cost them a championship but I don't think it will cost them this round. But a great game for sure.
All these games are amazing. Pitt/Xavier kinda bores me but the rest I would pay to watch.

We haven't won a championship or even made it to the Final Four since 1998. I've gotten used to dealing with a decade of ineptitude. All I care is that they get a good coach in here after the Gillispie debacle. Getting either Miller or Grant in here would make me happy.

As for Gillispie, I would understand why you want to dump him, but he messed up. He could have been a LEGEND at A&M, he will always be credited for turning our program around but he bailed for Kentucky. I think he's got a pretty bad drinking problem now so it's probably better he's gone but it killed us Aggies when he left.

I understand where you are coming from, but he was a bad fit from the start at UK. The red ass routine will simply never go over with the fans, boosters or recruits and their families in Lexington. Whether or not it is fair is not for me to judge but it's just the way it is. The job really requires an ambassador and a recruiter above all else, and BCG wasn't either of those things in Lexington.

Yeah. I guess he felt like he had to take the chance because how often does that opportunity come around, but I don't think it was a fit either. He had it so great here. He knew the Texas HS basketball scene so well, the coaches loved him, players, parents. It made much more sense for him to stay in Texas.

What will be then? Coach K, Boeheim, Izzo, have the same amount since 1992 as Tubby. Billy Donovan isn't leaving Florida, Jamie Dixon isn't leaving Pitt. They were allowed to build a program. He was SEC coach of the year LAST YEAR. The game has changed, they have to realize that.

Billy Donovan isn't leaving Florida
Personally I don't want him, but I wouldn't be surprised. In fact I talked to a friend who is a UF booster after news of the firing who seems to think it is inevitable.
Jamie Dixon isn't leaving Pitt.
I wouldn't touch him with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole. The game may have changed, but Smith had his oppurtunity and apart from his first year (again, with Pitino's recruits) he proved to be a choker in the tournament. BCG was an unmitigated disaster in recruiting and big games and really didn't deserve anymore time. I'll be fine to give Sean Miller, Jay Wright or Anthony Grant (although I fear he may be already gone to Alabama) a chance to build a program mostly because they fit the mold of a UK coach much more so than BCG did.

Good call.
I am totally disappointed in Louisville's effort. The debacle today knocks the "greatest conference of all time" down a peg and gives credence to a very weak ass Big10, MSU didn't even win their conference tourney- imagine if MSU can beat UCONN. They will be playing on basically their home court.
I think if they play 5 times Louisville wins 3 or 4, but I guess that's why they play the damn games.
Always a pleasure to see Pitino lose.

Well, Calipari is already paying dividends. With Patterson coming back now, if somehow Jodie Meeks came back too, along with the top point guard recruit, I'd go as far as to say they were a top 3 team in the country.
Top point guard recruit John Wall has told Kentucky coach John Calipari that he will sign with the Wildcats, according to multiple sources, ending a highly publicized courtship with the game-changing player.
Wall, ranked the No. 1 point guard, No. 5 overall, on the ESPNU 100, informed Miami coach Frank Haith Tuesday morning that he had committed to Kentucky. The reasoning, according to a source, was because he just wanted to play for Calipari.
