I'm up for an upgrade with At&t this month and I've been researching phones with QWERTY keyboards. I have unlimited text and I'm tired of using the keypad on my Nokia 6126...
I was out on Saturday night and Photoshop Mike showed me his Samsung Propel that he likes very much. I have been leaning towards this phone.
Do you own a Propel? What do you think of it? Tell me your ideas in terms of Pros and Cons with it.
KEEP IN MIND THIS IS FOR AT&T ONLY...so don't go talking about verizon or T-mobile phones, cuz I won't be getting one.
Thanks in advance.
btw. I will probably be getting the $30 package for unlimited internet and text...it's only $10 more than I'm paying now.

Pc Magazine (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2335347,00.asp) says the speaker phone portion sucks and a 1.3 camera. How important are these features and the IM stuff it comes with?

I have a blue tooth headset and I work for a digital camera company. These features don't really interest me.

The only other negative I read was that the screen resolution is not all that great. But the price may be worth it depending on what you can work out with your contract.
I love my Nokia 61 something from TMobile but you are right about punching out texts, I absolutely loath typing without QWERTY. It's my fault though, I did not start texting until after I bought the phone.

but I am not about to get a full data plan... I can't afford 100+ bucks a month for a phone... especially with my losing my job soon, so I am looking for one I can use on a standard plan I am on and maybe upp the plan later on when I have a new stable job

The plan I have:
450 anytime minutes
5000 night and weekend
unlimited text(image and text)
$70 with taxes and fees.
For $10 more I can have unlimited data with the Propel

The MAtrix from ATT got good reviews from Cnet (http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/pantech-matrix-green-at/4505-6454_7-33343544.html) (which I am a big fan of their reviews) and their followers. I would recommend it.

and I have 200 texts for 5 bucks.
I do have 17% discount on the service from work, so my monthly bill usually stays around 50 bucks, sometimes less.
I do send texts via gmail tough when I am in the office.
I just did a comparison online (it seems I am eligible for my upgrade after all... )
looking at the price I would more likely go with the propel but it is missing some features that the other has... Streaming Media, FM Radio but it is gps enabled compared to the other which is not...
not sure what to chose anymore

well I was wondering if since it is a touchpad if it would be a qwerty on screen?
I did not see any pix of it, maybe there are videos out there... and it is cheaper with the contract
I think it is a qwerty touch screen keyboard or regular... check out at 5:20 ish
