food: rhubarb - when cooked with a ton of sugar it is sublime
i don't know why no one makes rhubarb pie any more
condiment: horseradish - the forgotten 'hot' condiment
delicious when mixed with any number of foods
i like it mixed with whipped cream as a sauce for roast beef
and i mix it into plain yogurt or cottage cheese
for a snappy and delicious lo-cal lunch
any others?

Don't know about that. I can't grow shit in my yard (well, maybe its more about I don't try vs. can't but none the less the back 40 is pretty sparse) but I have a rhubarb plant that grows like a frickin' weed. I hack it to bits a couple of times every summer and will make a few pies and just stew the rest without sugar. The unsweetened goop makes a great base for chutney and marinades.
horseradish
Again, something else I eat a lot of. I don't grow it but my bother does and I get a few roots from him every fall. You're right that it is a great way to add a nice kick to something. Also perfect to make your own cocktail sauce and lather it on burgers! :p
As for others....lets see
Under-rated food I'd have to go with pickled eggs. They're tasty, good drunk food, easy to make and not that bad for you.
Under-rated condiment.....hmmm....lemon butter. Its good on toast, can use it in lots of different baking and good to add a sweet/tart taste to something savory.

Because it is technically a weed...can't stand it!

I like Peanut Butter on hot dogs.
My dad ate em' for years, and I thought it was sick. I tried one and it was fantastic.
I can't find anyone else to try them now.

I can't find anyone else to try them now.Seeing as how it is basically Pb and Bacon..I'd try it.
Are pickles a condiment or food? cause I love Pickles and mayo sandwiches..More than cucumber sandwiches..which are basically the same thing but without all the flavor.

I haven't thought of horseradish in a long time. My first thought was simply relish. I had some on a hot dog at Coney Island last summer at the Mermaid Day parade in the 95 degree heat and it was the best!
