I had a special deal with BoA that any transfers would be 0% for 6 months. So I transferred some amount from one of my other cards and worked my ass off to pay it off before the 6 months was over.
It will be over the next billing cycle. You wanna know what they raised my APR to?
37.11%
No, that's not a typo.
I'm paying it off this month and canceling the card. HA!!! Fuckers! Were they one of the banks that took the bail out money?

Careful, Petrina. Is that your DEFAULT rate that it changed to, or your next APR?
A lot of people are mistaking the raised default rate for the regular APR.
And yes, BOA took bailout money.

The secret, as always, is reading the fine print, and also planning your moves ahead of the game.
If they do raise your rates, calling them and negotiating is the first step of getting a better deal.
Also, it helps to have an offer in your back pocket to use in case your current deal goes south.
The biggest issue you have to make sure of the is transfer fee, and making sure there is a cap on it.

I have the bill in front of me and in bold letters it says:
Annual Percentage Rate 37.11%
I know my other cards have default rates of 29% or so, but this is my new APR and not the default rate.

I used to have a checking/savings account with BoA.
I'm now with PNC. BoA sucks a bag of dicks. I hope they choke on that bailout money

why do you always go out of your way
to mention a poster's real name?
if she wanted that as a screen name she would have picked it
are you trying to make yourself look important
like you know everyone in real life
or are you trying to make her feel uncomfortable?
those are the only two options

are you trying to make her feel uncomfortable?
It's okay! I've been a member here almost 8 years. A lot of people know my real name and it's okay if they use it.
But thanks for sticking up for me! I appreciate it.

How about option 3 - I feel like an asshole calling someone I know in real life "fuzzybutt".
Everyone calls me Matty. It's not like I broadcast her last name, address, etc.

if the card does not have an annual fee it actually helps to leave the account open and possibly use occasionally but immediately pay off so you are not incurring interest. It will improve your credit rating to have the account open but in good standing as to closed by customer.
I closed a few accounts because it was the only way to get them to agree to no longer apply interest and pay down the balance. It says on my credit report that the account was closed per customer request.
It helped me pay off the balance yet it decreased my credit score regardless.
