Mookie

I was looking at the Mets roster for Spring Training and more than ever I miss Mookie. He may not have been the best player, but was there ever a better Met?

He was my favorite. I batted leadoff and wore #1 my entire (insignificant) baseball career. I even adopted his name. I've gone by Mookie since I was in 4th grade. (shortened to Mook in college).

and I always replied "yeah he was good, but he was no Mookie"

Mookie was to the Mets what Roy was to the Yankees. Solid, dependable and clutch.

yeh theres a few reasons why that;d be true


he played more seasons in philly
was a starter in philly, platooned more often than not in ny
and after he juiced up in philly he got more exsposure
