Penn's acting was a bit better in Taps than in Fast Times. His acting in Bad Boys (I think that was the title) was a bit cringe-inducing as well. I do think he is a great actor now but I don't think you can pretend he didn't do "those types of movies."

Sean Penn said what he wanted. The only sugar that would make the conservatives happy would be if all the gays in America would just go underground. Conservatives and right wing republicans only care about their money, their guns, and telling women what to do with their bodies. They will never want the same rights they have for gay people so it is pointless to try to reach them.

I'm sick of hearing people talk about Average Joe, Joe Lunchbox, Joe the Plumber, etc.

Especially when people use it as part of a message the normal, "real" people agree with them.

Only if we can ban adding "-gate" to future scandals.

My question is spent by whom? Paid by insurance companies? By the average person?

Plus, if the cost of a drug was around $200 to the insurance company (and some are are), that would mean 10 million prescriptions.

No one is denying that people take medication or that there are plenty of drugs out there. The question was how many people are on medication.

Your buddy is the perfect example of someone who has multiple medications. How many prescriptions does he get a year on those three drugs?

When you have one person getting multiple drugs/prescriptions a year, that helps explains that the number of prescriptions a year or amount spent can't be averaged out over the whole US population.

There are people who have legitimate uses for prescription drugs. Ron was defending Ledger, who ABUSED them. That's the problem that most of us have.

I got a sweet little scrip after having some oral surgury. I took one. It made me feel like a zombie. I switched to A.J.'s medication, and sold the rest for a nice little profit.
I guess that makes me a dealer.

But, as I gave you a total of scripts filled in a year, it doesn't make sense.

If you took the total of people taking prescription drugs, added that to illegal drug users, smokers and drinkers, what do you think the total is?

Again, the total number of scripts doesn't help either because a good majority of people getting scripts get more than 1 script a year. Your buddy is an example. Do you have numbers on the actual number of people getting prescriptions per year? Because wheb you talk about # of prescriptions per year or $ spent, you need other numbers to put it into perspective.

You're missing the point.

There are people who have legitimate uses for prescription drugs. Ron was defending Ledger, who ABUSED them. That's the problem that most of us have.

Don't lump everyone in with you.

Most people posting seem to have a problem that Ron thinks everyone is on drugs. You, on the other hand, think Ledger doesn't deserve any sort of sympathy. It's two separate things. Stop pretending people agree with you.

I got a script for Perks after I had a procedure a few years ago. I didn't even get it filled. The very slight pain I felt was taken care of with A.J.'s medication.

I'm in agreement. I think most people think that Ledger did have some abuse, but still have sympathy for the guy.

I can't denounce Ledger and say that he doesn't deserve any sympathy because he abused drugs. I'm not saying he has no responsibility, but the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I never feel sorry for the abuse, I feel sorry for whatever caused that person to go down that road. Obviously there was something much bigger going on inside Ledger.

Yes he did.

Now, here's the 25,000,000 question: ask me if I care outside of being curious what he said?

I have no emotional attachment to R&F other than they entertain me.

When the caller talks about friends who drink all day long/night, and say that they are functional, I get two questions: 1) what is functional and 2) for how long? I think if you're continuously drinking all day, you may be "functional" for some time, but eventually that's going to end.

No, the point was the denial of drug usage in this country. At least, that's what the point of the board discussion was.

No, the point was the order of magnitude of the drug usuage.

No one denied that people abuse drugs. The argument surrounded how many people were abusing drugs.
