I have entered into a bad sleep cycle and it is killing me. I can't get myself reset to a normal pattern. I kind of did myself in on this one. I usually do not drink anything with caffiene after 4 pm, and a week ago I got a small coffee at 10 at night and I ruined my sleep. I fell asleep, but woke up like 2 hrs later and was up all night. I was a wreck the next day and tried to go to bed early to make up for it, and I woke up early but stayed in bed until my alarm prompted me up. My back started killing me from laying down to long. Since then, I have been trying to get in a pattern of normal sleep where I get a full nights rest and have had zero success. Right now I feel like I have a hangover from lack of sleep! Any suggestions?

take a tylenol PM or any other sleep aid and go to bed at a decent hour to get back into your cycle

Thanks, I will try that. This morning I thought if I simply stayed in bed that it would help me rest. Instead I am aching and really irritable.

Do you snore? Are you overweight?

Have you ever been checked for sleep apnea?

Yes and yes, but not checked for the apnea, but I am pretty sure I have it. It runs in my family and my father has a heart condition. All my uncles have heart problems too.

That's probably why you're having sleep problems. Get to your doctor and have him/her refer you to a sleep lab.
