Pitzy sounded like Joe Poo when he trying to change his voice. His guidoness and homoness always felt like he was doing a poor man's Bobby the Champ to me. He stole every angle Bobby ever did. Before that he had nothing. Go back and do the research its all there.

I hope Pitz was exagerrating for the radio, and Ron was steering him in the right direction... for fuck's sake, don't drop a shitload of cash on the wedding. You don't need eight fucking stations.

by the amount of cash for the wedding..i assumed the bill was taken care of by Vics dad. the brides parents are suppose to pay for the wedding and the fact that they are well-off enough for him to live with them...i connected the dots

either way, 6grand for a ring, 30grand for a wedding...added together that is so much of my yearly salary that if that was the standard for marrying a girl i'll be a single man for awhile

You're missing out on seven other stations then!

The biggest ripoff in the wedding industry outside of the flowers is the stations deal. Sure, it makes for a luxurious wedding, but if you're not going to see an ROI on gifts, ultimately, it's a money-losing proposition.

The most important things to spend money on at a wedding are entertainment, photography, and main-course food and drinks, in that order.

Flowers are the worst thing you can spend a ton of money on at a wedding.

You're forgetting cheese, bacon, sour cream, scallions. The possibilities are endless really. I had a very small wedding so sorry if this sounds stupid but whats a station? Is that like each type of food is manned and made right in front of you? Like a carving station? Why would that be more impressive than a really nice sitdown dinner. Is that for cocktail hour or is the wedding a buffet? These are all things I need to know and Matty seems to have the answers. Please inform me. The potato bar alone sounds like thats sugar but I have no time for the rest of it. A sliced ham does nothing for me.

This reminds me of the MTV True Life wedding I saw a few weeks ago/replay from years ago. This Italian couple spent like 40 grand on their wedding and got like $19,000 in cash. They ended up losing 21 thousand dollars in the deal. Not to mention that guinea tipped everyone at least $100

We had the option of stations built into our package, but we could only have 2. Extras on top of that would be $15 dollars a head. At 100 people, you're looking at $1500 dollars for a side dish.

I've been to a bunch of different weddings, from buffet-style country weddings, to military weddings, to ultra-luxe weddings.

Just because you dump a lot of money into a wedding doesn't make it a fun wedding or a memorable one. The idea is controlled spending, especially in this economy, when people don't have a lot of cash to spare for gifts.

And yes, it may seem shallow that I'm bringing gifts into this, but the wedding gift is something that you are giving to someone to start their new life. If you are taking wedding gift money and pumping it back into the one-day cost of the wedding, there's a really, really big problem.

This is an absolute myth perpetrated by the media. If you have a job, and a good credit score, you can get a documented loan without a problem.

Not necessarily. Depends on how much you spend per head when you figure out everything. Also depends on negotiation.

I spent $20k on my wedding and got like $2400 back.

Do you mean you got 22,400 in wedding gifts, so it was a total of 2400 in profit, or do you mean you were 17,600 in the hole?

Bingo. The most luxurious wedding I ever went to was an Italian-American family with both families from Brooklyn, transplanted into Jersey. Groom's father was a lawyer. It was RIDICULOUSLY over the top.

Fun wedding, but I was praying to myself that Liz wasn't getting any ideas that I would have to talk her out of when we were done.

Something that I want to bring up that I totally forgot and it may be on me...

Liz and I felt some family pressure to make the wedding more luxurious. So that may be true in Pitz's case as well. The parents see this as an opportunity to show off to their friends as well.

My original idea for a wedding was a tent party with BBQ. It morphed into something else, mainly because of some gentle prodding from my mom.

There's a world of difference between business mortgage and personal mortgage.

I'm not saying it's easy to get financing, but if you're buying within your means, you have docs, and you have a decent down payment - which is how you should be buying a house in the first place - you shouldn't have a problem.

This is exactly what we did. We had our friend marry us much like Dawn Cumia but we did it in '04 so face! Then we went to our outdoor reception/Luau that our friend graciously let us use her yard for and everyone had a fantastic time. Final cost was about 9 grand for the whole shebang. Very little stress no debt when its all over.
