How Do You Become an Influential Blogger?

I keep hearing the term "influential blogger"

How does this happen? Who is being influenced? How do you determine who is legit? How are numbers/statements verified? I read all day and dont read any blogs

Only websites I check daily: Ron/Fez, The Onion, ESPN, Washington Post, The Bonnies Bandwagon(St, Bona hoop site) and YouTube

Best way to become an influential blogger...marry a closet bisexual who runs for senate in California...divorce him...bang Bill Maher so he puts you on politically incorrect a few times then start your own website. I'm pretty sure that's the only way...then again I'm not a scientist who knows these sorts of things.

I like how on the news or CNN type things they'll quote regular people that post somewhere. You always hear them saying "Bob in Nevada writes..." Its like anyone can comment on anything and they'll use it in a story.
