Will this finally stop illegal file sharing? (http://techdirt.com/articles/20080128/19330699.shtml)

This continues to make the RIAA and MPAA look like morons, for some reason they keep thinking that pirate bay hosts all those files for those dirty thieves to download, its like newspapers raiding google for stealing their content. They are just the search engine, the rest is the user.

And an update, seems they are slowly starting to realize this lawsuit is screwed (http://techdirt.com/articles/20090217/1024233798.shtml).

Whether or not you fileshare, this has got to be the stupidest thing these idiots are doing, they sued the hell out of napster, they sued kazaa, the sued limwire, threatened bearshare and tried to intimidate countless other sites. It seems they would learn eventually that this is not accomplishing anything and just give up, hell quite a few movies I used to see on kazaa were crappy filmed versions of a screen so I would not even watch them.

They need to find a way to make technology work for them instead of suing grandmothers for downloading rap.

If TPB gets shut down, I'll be very annoyed.

its so easy to get popped with a cease and desist to your isp with these public trackers-for whatever reason peer guardian doesnt work on my computer so i only use the private sites (and get much better download speeds there anyway) i wish pirate bay the best of luck, but wont use them cause i dont want cox to cancel our service

Yeah, I'll love to see a lawsuit over a torrent....you uploaded these sections of these files........

Is it possible to sue someone if you don't supply the entire file?

They get a few legal threats every year. Here are the threats and their responses.

Yeah, its always hard to find good private sites but most ISPs wont track now for fear of a lawsuit, I am hoping fienstein doesnt get her way or a tiered internet will probably make this obsolete.

I think that is their argument but others just see it as copyright infringement, I really want them to win so those people can fuck off.

the isps don't do shit until a major company (in my cases Universal Pictures, NBC television, and i believe my roommate got one from HBO) cause a stink and send the isp something. then the isp cuts off your internet and asks you to call them for more info. they tell you the file you got busted for, give you the 3-strikes spiel (we've actually had 4 over 2 years, so i dunno the validity of this 'rule') and then you say you'll delete it/stop sharing/protect your network from 3rd parties, and they hook your internet back up. after my last bust, for a fucking tv show i forgot to record on dvr the night before, i vowed not to use public trackers anymore cause these little shitbag companies that spy on torrent traffic for a living and rat out your ip info to the major studios, where the c&d originates. sure i downloaded probably in the hundreds without my isp ever caring, but losing our entire internet service over these c&ds isnt worth it. also ninjavideo has been working better lately, so ive used them for lots of shows and movies-i can get stuff without having to file share at all. so far i havent had any problems with the private trackers i use, and trust they can continue to keep the rats out. basically the big companies need to come together and create a better, faster, cheaper, streamlined service that gets you every form of media via the internet if they ever expect pirating to stop. and dont suggest netflix-im not gonna wait months for a tv show/movie to come out on dvd to stream when they should be available right after they air

I don't Torrent anymore. Mainly because I rarely found what I wanted when I wanted it (supernova era).

Now, I Sling everything I want remotely. I'd use streams like Hulu or the like, but they block IPs outside of North America.

They wonder why piracy happens. I would happily watch a stupid Dove soap commercial to watch a TV show. I can watch a movie from a Torrent and not see anti-piracy commercials... but if I pay 10-20 dollars in Japan I have to watch reminders about not talking and not recording.

Then, the music companies blew up the costs of music production for CDs for several years. Now, we customers don't want to pay so it is a problem...

It sucks!

The best private sites are genre-specific IMO. If you're looking for a broad tracker just use isohunt (http://www.isohunt.com).

Apparently they've just said fuck this lawsuit, and made a sister site.

http://www.videobay.org

All the stuff that will get taken down from youtube, can be put here.

if thats true then send me an invite

I only use bitsoup.org now.

Strict policy of 1:1 sharing, but I download usually 5x faster than even on demonoid.

Keep checking if they're accepting invites.
