So they can't come up with new music ?
What the fuck is remixing it going to do?
I never got the concept of rebuying music and movies I already own.

They are pretty prolific. A new CD every three years or so and side projects so saying they can't come up with new music is misinformed. I'll listen to anything they do so I await the new tracks.

Rereleases are usually a good thing just for the imrovement in sound quality alone. So many 80's and early 90's abums either sound very thin or way too quiet wih their original releases. Bands also tend to add on a lot of B-sides and rarities and exclusive tracks from the era that fans have had to settle for with lesser quality over the years or couldn't find at all.
That said, I'm not getting this one.
Waste of time.
The only thing Eddie Vedder can do to suck me back in, at this point, is go to Chris Cornell and pitch a Temple of The Dog reunion.
New album commemorating the 20th anniversary, and a tour, and I'd be there.

Nope...strickly a musical discussion here buddy. It's well documented that 4 out of 5 RonFez.net ladies prefer a JerseyRich beard over a Mojo Pin beard.

There's multiple versions of this:
Pearl Jam to Reissue Ten Four Different Ways
Various versions contain "MTV Unplugged" DVD, replica of original demo cassette
Pearl Jam to Reissue Ten Four Different Ways
Pearl Jam's Ten was the album that launched the band's career and, unfortunately, the careers of endless Pearl Jam imitators. But Eddie Vedder and co. will hearken back to a time before Nickelback by reissuing their 1991 debut in four different editions via Legacy Recordings on March 24.
The most basic of these Ten reissues is called the Legacy Edition. It features one CD with the original album remastered and another CD with the album both remastered and remixed by producer Brendan O'Brien. The second disc also includes six bonus tracks: "Brother", "Just a Girl", "State of Love and Trust", "Breath and a Scream", "2,000 Mile Blues", and "Evil Little Goat".
The Deluxe Edition has everything in the Legacy Edition but expands upon it by including a DVD featuring Pearl Jam's "MTV Unplugged" performance from 1992. The "Unplugged" show has never been commercially released before, and this DVD includes a performance of "Oceans" that was never aired.
Then there's the Vinyl Collection edition of the reissue, which is like the Legacy Edition without the bonus tracks and on vinyl: one LP with the original Ten remastered and one LP with Ten remastered and remixed by Brendan O'Brien.
Finally, there's the mother lode: the Super Deluxe Edition. This one collects everything in the Deluxe Edition and the Vinyl Collection but adds a couple very important things: a live set recorded at Seattle's Magnuson Park from September 20, 1992 called Drop in the Park on two vinyl LPs, and a replica of "Momma-Son", Pearl Jam's original demo cassette featuring "Alive", "Once", and "Footsteps". The package also includes a recreation of Vedder's composition notebook with replica notes, images, and other rare memorabilia.
All of these reissues feature re-designed artwork overseen by bassist Jeff Ament, who was also the art director for the original Ten artwork. The cover of the new version of Ten can be seen at the top of this story.
Even better news for Jam fans: These reissues are just the first releases in a two-year catalog reissue campaign leading up to Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary in 2011.
In other Pearl Jam news, the band is auctioning off an autographed guitar to benefit Red Feather Development Group, which constructs sustainable homes for Native Americans. The auction ends December 12.

I'm definitely getting the version with the Unplugged DVD.
This is not something for casual fans, but the hardcores. You guys never buy any special release from bands you like. Box Sets, shit like that?
Also, remastering is key. If I go back and listen to CDs I bought 15 years ago, they sound like shit. Some of them could use a good remastering. Of course, if you play your CDs in a clock radio, remastering will mean nothing to you...
I'll buy it when the Cubs win the World Series.

How is a new CD every three years prolific? Come on, Look at some catalogs from bands/artist from the 60's/70's. They put out albums every year. Sometimes two.

Do the 5000 live albums they've released not count? Hard to make 2 studio albums a year when you are constantly on tour.

That hasn't been the norm for about 25-30 years now. Welcome to 2009.

That's only partially true. I think record labels make an album every two-three years the norm.
Some bands that are underground are churning out records like hotcakes.
But major label bands usually follow the few years between album thing. Unless you're weezer.

Seriously. Bands just tour, tour, tour now because their labels force them out. A band putting out album after album never happens anymore.

Did you ever stop to think that it's because we reward some of these hacks far too soon. I mean Bands/Artist had to work for there success back then. Fuck "the norm". Why don't we try separating the real musicians from the rock stars. And maybe, just maybe we can save what's left of a dying art form.

i love the new album.
it was so good but also so short
i guess people dont really buy whole albums anymore, they mostly just buy a few songs off an album at a time
so bands, as in this case, will only put out their a+ songs anymore
youll rarely hear an experimental song like 'bugs'
or a song like 'out of my mind' was a b-side, and now just wouldnt be released

Unthought Known is one of my favs as well..
Unthought Known
“It’s about a conversation with (actress) Catherine Keener, and a book – I think it might have even been called Unthought Known . I got back late to my hotel in New York, and I pushed it that extra hour. I pushed the limits of how much you can drink and smoke, and this song came out of it. I think the thought of the song is that there are things that you know, and they’re in us, but we just haven’t thought of them. But they’re there, and we base decisions on them.”
I cant wait for the Philly shows. Social D opening the first 2 nights..
