I saw there wasn't a thread for PSP discussion yet and I can't believe no one else owns one here. That being said anyone know how I can install a NES emulator? I found a couple but I don't want to fuck my PSP up.

That's a complicated question. What firmware version do you have? Go to System - System Settings - System Information to find out.

But any way you do it leaves open a very small chance that you could brick your PSP. That chance only gets bigger if you are a novice with computers.

I wouldn't say novice, I'm somewhere in the middle.

Yeah I've thought about doing mod shit to mine but I'm afraid of bricking it cause I suck at computer stuff. Same reason I won't update my blackberry!

It would be very difficult to do with that late a firmware. I'll look up what you need to do and post it later.

Way too late I know, but with that late a firmware its not at all feasible to downgrade to a firmware that allows custom software. It requires either knowing someone who already has a PSP with custom firmware or buying a custom battery (sounds stupid I know, but that's actually the "safest" route). So unfortunately I wouldn't bother. Sony has made this stuff much harder to do than it was a few years ago. I had a launch PSP with custom firmware but I dropped it and cracked the screen. I have a newer one and I'm not bothering with putting it on my new one. Too much of a hassle. If you want a retro fix there is the Genesis Mega Collection which has a ton of old Genesis games. Capcom, EA and Midway also have collections out of their old games.

And today they just announced LittleBigPlanet, Rock Band and Assassin's Creed titles for the PSP. Those are the first major PSP games announcements in quite a while.
