View Full Version : Goozex Trading
Has anyone used this service for game trading. I have a bunch of Wii games and a few DS games that I'm trying to get rid of and found this site. Essentially the site matches you up with someone who is look for your game and then you mail it to them. Once you've mailed it out goozex gives you a certain amount of credit to be used on their site to obtain another game.
I'm a big gamer and now that I have a new xbox 360 I'm trying to get my hands on a bunch of games I have yet to play like Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Bioshock, CoD, Burnout, Left 4 Dead, etc. With little money to spend I'm starting with game trading but i think i will also try out Gamefly.
Anyone have any opinions on game trading and renting?

Did you ever give this a try?
Yes. In my situation where I had a bunch of old games and I was looking for older xbox 360 games everything worked out really good. I was able to get everything I wanted relatively quickly and cheaply(just spending on shipping).
Newer games are going to take a lot longer to obtain. I've been waiting like 2 months and still counting on a possible match for games like Fallout 3, Left for Dead, and prince of persia. But I was able to get games like Soul Calibur, GTA4, Eternal Sonata, and lost planet real quick. I just got Dead Space too.
I now use a combination of sites to get rid of my old games. I put them up on Goozex, Swaptree(a trading site that does direct trades), and Amazon.
If you need more specific answers, then just ask. I'll help out anyway I can.

Yeah I kinda got the feeling that the newer games were going to take months to get. What weight do you use for a typical game, box and manual? I'm sure they vary but I doubt the USPS pays that close of attention. Wish I would have known about this site a year ago before I let GameStop pay me $12 for the newest games.

I'm sending out a few games tomorrow and should get the credits in my account in a few days. Do you save your points for that one big game or do you trade for lesser games while you are waiting?
Seems like timing will be a big problem...If I have the points when that big game comes up, I'm good, but if I've used them on lesser games, I'm screwed.

Some of those "new" games you listed aren't really that new anymore bro. I mean even I have played Left 4 Dead over a friend's house. It's pretty good, you're missing out man. Just look for it used at this point at a local store and go play it.
I don't know the exact weight on the package but i pay between $1.69 and $2.02 for first class. I have no idea why it varies between the two. I don't get the tracking or confirmation even though they suggest it. No one really does. Also, to cut costs try not to buy envelopes. I use old ones I have or wrap the games in bubble wrap and then a homemade envelop out of a paper shopping bag.
As for credit, when you first start out you won't get it until you received positive reviews on your trades. The whole thing requires some patients at first. I got lucky because most of my games were in high demand and got reviewed quickly. Then I requested all the older games that were low cost and were easily matched. Once I got all the ones I wanted I put the higher priced games on my list and stepped away to wait for them to become available while I played the older ones.
That's what worked for me. You'll probably have to setup your own strategy. Like I mentioned before, you might want to try swaptree and amazon at the same time.
What games are you currently offering and requesting? What is your username on goozex?
You could have put me as a referrer and we could have gotten points when you signed up. oh well. If anyone else joins put me down Meve1983.

I know they are not new that's why I said "newer". They are from Q4 of '08. I'm very limited on money that I can spend on games right now and trading is the cheapest way for me to obtain the games I want. I have a pretty big back catalog to catch up on first so I'm not going to buy those newer ones. Plus I have a group of friends who are just getting into the xbox360 at the same time so I get games they have to play multiplayer. No one has Left 4 Dead yet so I can wait.

If you get some money, the way to go is modded Xbox that can play DVD-R copies. Then rent them, copy them and return them.
I've seen it work, it's fuckin' great. Then you have the latest games for the price of some writable media and the rental service you use. Get one of those through the mail ones with one monthly fee and you don't even have to leave the house to get the games.

I use the service a bunch and so far it's worked great. I don't use it for new games but I just stick myself on the wait list for various older games and when they show up I am happy. I have sent out 9 games so far and traded those points in for 5 games back. The more members the service gets the better it will be. I like it better than selling back to Gamestop, feels good to send a game to someone who actually wants to play it instead of feeding some used game selling corporate monstrosity.
oh that's how you do the referral thing. My link is:

Got feedback on my first game shipped and the damn system just automatically engaged me in a trade for one of the lower games on my want list. Do you just keep all your want list on hold until you get points and then activate one at a time?

If you do that don't play on XBL they will figure it out and IP ban you and then no more XBL.

You can PM the seller and ask him to cancel it if he hasn't shipped it yet. I've always dealt with pretty nice people who don't mind if you make a mistake like that.
Putting them on hold is your best bet. The system will make any match it can with your current points and availabilty of your requests.
