Are going to be playing at the Izod center in June. Tickets go on sale February 21st (my birfday).

Has anyone here seen Eric Clapton live because i desperately want to go to this show.

A couple of days before it was announced i told my boyfriend that the only two bands i want to see before i die (more likely that they will die at this point) are Eric Clapton & The Stones. I see that the tickets going on sale on my birthday as a sign that i must attend.

I saw Clapton in DC probably 10 years ago or so. Worst show I ever saw. He had a great backing band with him which could have allowed him to dig deep into his archive, but instead he chose to play all of his lame-ass songs. The crowd was dead too -- standing only for the encore of "Cocaine".

Maybe playing with Winwood will reenergize him. You should be guaranteed a couple of Blind Faith tunes anyway.

Damn AJ, that is really a bummer to hear.

I fucking lvoe Clapton, i don't want to see him and start to resent him for a shitty set.

Like I said, that was sometime ago when he was touring with that backing orchestra that just made things worse. I don't want to put you off to going because with Winwood along there's hope. However, you DO need to be warned of the likelihood of hearing the awful, inevitable "Wonderful Tonight", "Cocaine", "Tears in Heaven" radio-friendly crap.

I sort of agree with A.J. I've seen Clapton three times when he was a headliner two were pretty lame, and the other one was quite good. The most spirited I ever saw him was with my Dad in '92 at the Dylan 30th anniversary show at MSG. Winwood, on the other hand, has been awesome every time I have seen him. If they play alot of the Blind Faith, EC's Powerhouse era shit it should probably be a damn good show.

I've seen Clapton 10 or so times...and while not all of them have been terrific, last year's show at MSG with Winwood was awesome...there was a nice balance of solo material for each guy and Blind Faith stuff...

I saw Clapton twice. Once at MSG a few years ago and once at PNC last year. I enjoyed the MSG show way better because he had Derek Trucks with him and he played more rock. The PNC was good too but almost all blues except for the way predictable Wonderful Tonight/Laya/Cocaine finale. Winwood w/ Clapton just can not possibly be bad.

I also saw last year's Clapton/Winwood at MSG, and I highly recommend it.
The only big Clapton "hits" were After Midnight and Cocaine. It really was a great, bluesy show.
And they play together the whole time, not like when he played with Elton John and they each had their own seperate sets.

I saw God with Robert Cray and it was awesome. Steve Winwood kicks ass, seems like an easy ticket decision. I'd love to see some blind faith stuff live.
