well Judd Gregg withdrew as nominee
for commerce secretary

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0209/18794.html

my confidential sources tell me it was because
they emasculated him by pulling the census into the white house

and that gregg knew it was because they wanted to manipulate the census
and he wanted no part of that

i voted for hope

There was nothing unusual being done with the census. He was just catching a ton of shit from Republics and had to drop out.

Nope. The White House agreed not to pressure NH gov. John Lynch to appoint a Democrat and Lynch had already agreed to appoint Gregg's old chief of staff to the seat.

Well, then he's just a douchebag. That was the only benefit I saw to naming him outside of reaching across party lines. Move on to the next candidate...it's not like Gregg was the only person who could handle the job.

Then he's an idiot. If he had to "come to his senses" over something like that, his "senses" are seriously faulty. The reason he was offered the job was BECAUSE he would ideally offer a differing viewpoint.

no, because people want an honest COUNT
and not to have control of the census within the white house
where the suspicion is that it will be manipulated

i wouldn't want it in the white house if bush was president or clinton or anyone else
it does not pass the 'smell test'

and i did vote for obama, loser,
because things were horrible under bush
unfortunately, they are only getting worse

i am very unhappy with the first month of obama
yes it is only a month, but i did not expect
this level of ineptitude

Why would the census be at any less of a risk under commerce? The White House could just put someone they know they could count on to handle it if they were that nefarious.

And how are things "getting worse" thanks to the new administration? They haven't done anything yet. The only major thing they've tried to do is the stimulus package and that hasn't even gone into effect. You say things were horribe due to the last 8 years, yet 3 weeks is just too damn long for any of us to see what the hell happens? Good Lord, man.

It took about two and a half years for me to realize that George Bush sucked. y'see, country was doing pretty damn fine when he became president, and it took him a couple years to really shit it up to the point where I noticed the stink. A cleaning crew would probably smell like shit for a little while, even if they were doing a good job.

You do realize I have a memory. And even if I didn't this site has a perfect memory. There was stuff like this:

how do you fight it...you just lie

like you promise to take federal funding to run your campaign
and then break that pledge

and tell the public that 90% of people will get a tax cut
when only 40% actually pay taxes

all politicians lie and and run dirty campaigns and generally suck
why does everyone pretend obama is any different

ill take the rezko real estate windfall any day
obama made out real nice on that
he is just like the rest

And there was also you pointing out poll after poll that showed Obama or Democrats behind.

Anyway, wanting a fair and accurate count and not over-representing minorities are the same thing. In a fair and accurate count you wouldn't over-represent anybody. There has been concern in some communities, especially hispanic communities, that they have been under-represented in previous censuses. Either way, the White House was never going to be in charge of the actual count. Gregg still would have been in charge of the Census. That was never an issue.

Meh.

When did Clinton ever stand up and say "I made a mistake and we'll fix it", as Obama did in regards to Daschle?

I mean, Obama invited the Republics for a meeting on the stimulus, then the bill - in it's final form - will come in about $80 billion less than it started out. And, this bill is the largest tax cut in the history of this country.

Obama appointed a Republic as Secretary of Transportation and tried to appoint a Republic at Commerce.

What else exactly would you like him to do?

Former Gregg Staffer Is Linked to Abramoff Scandal (http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2009/02/04/former-gregg-staffer-is-linked-to-abramoff-scandal/)

The Associated Press reported (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gO0qAWSVYIbBFjBZG6WNdHLgkamwD964VQU80) today that Kevin Koonce, a former legislative director for Gregg, was identified as “Staffer F” in recent court documents related to the Abramoff scandal. Koonce allegedly took sporting tickets and other gifts valued at $10,000 in exchange for legislative favors. Koonce left Gregg’s office four years ago, and has not been charged with a crime.

This isn't an Obama problem, this is a Judd Gregg problem.

You can't unite people trying to sabotage a country so that they can be re-elected/elected. The Republicans are throwing out nothing but shit and expecting the citizens of the US to buy it up.

He's not just getting out of the Cabinet...it looks like he's getting out of government (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Gregg-withdraws-as-commerce-apf-14347831.html):

The New Hampshire senator also said he would probably not run for a new term in 2010.

So I'm guessing this Abramoff thing is pretty bad and he just wants to get out before he gets slimed for it.

Why is it that the Democrats will lose in 2010? Gerrymandering is more difficult now and even if possible, Democrats control much of government now. Every single year that passes represents less Republican constituents and more Democratic constituents. The whole 2 decades of exploiting and blaming minorities that started in the Reagan era wasn't very forward-thinking.

He reached across the aisle being the first president I can remember in my lifetime who tried to have three members of the other party in his cabinet.

He was reaching across the aisle when he had that dinner with McCain just before the inauguration.

There are other examples if you just look....
