I don't watch a lot of television so I might be the last to notice but when did so many Movie actors move to TV?
Lawrence Fishburn, gary sinise, tim roth, that arquette girl... And a few others I know I'm forgetting.
Any real reason for this? Guaranteeing steady work if the movie industry slows with the economy?

i think the negative stigma of doing television after working in movies has become less and less over the years.

Happened in the late 90's. The stigma of doing TV wore off for one reason or another.
The rise in cable drama's is the biggest reason. Networks like FX and Showtime and HBO care about putting on QUALITY programming. The quality of the show brings out bigger and bigger actors because the exposure and reception it gets.
And a lot of the women had no other option. In film, 40 is a death sentence. But well written cable shows provide vehicles for people like Glenn Close, Mary Louise Parker, Holly Hunter, etc.

I agree with weekapaugjz. But really, are there that many making the switch?

How many start out in Tv go to movies and come back?? George Clooney, Selma Hayek, Robert Redford,Will Shatner, Ricardo Montalban?
I think it is expanding as time goes on...more tv's now than 1959.

Alec Baldwin too. I think some of it is because they don't have the talent to cut it in the movies world, although this may only apply to Alec. I think it's because getting residuals from repeats on networks and syndication can be immensely profitable for them and is more likely than being in a huge movie franchise that will continue to make money.
