How fucked up was Joaquin Phoenix on lastnight's Letterman? Clearly he's on something.

I think he's been on the show once before fucked up too. I know he has a social anxiety think, but there is no excuse for that.

Please don't say anything bad about him. His people are constantly reading our board.
It's all a ruse for an upcoming mocumentary (Rockumentary). He's the dude playin the dude that's playin the dude

I saw the commercial for it and thought Dave was talking to a homeless vagrant, but then they said his name. I thought it was his "I'm a rockstar now" look.

i thought it was hilarious. at the beginning, i thought Joaquin was messing around, but when Letterman seemed to get annoyed, thats when i started to change my mind. the gum on the desk was a nice touch too. I hope this was just a ruse (of Borat proportions) to continue the promotion for whatever fake rapper storyline he's working on. if not, someone better get Joaquin some new handlers before they complete his career suicide.

So fake. Im just not buying it. My last shred of belief in humanity wont allow me to.

Agreed. Letterman has always been a phony.
Phoenix must have watched the documentary "I'm from Hollywood" and thought it would be fun to do a work with Letterman.

The more I watch it the more it seems like a work.
But then I think of what an awful actor he is and realize that there is no way he could pull it off.
He's just a total douche. I hope he drops dead outside of a niteclub.

Dave handled him perfectly.
"I'm sorry you couldn't be here tonight."
"We owe Farrah Fawcett an apology!"
Now, what exactly Joaquin is trying - if at all - to accomplish? I don't know and at this point really don't care.

Geeez! Ever think he may have social anxiety?? If this wasn't a hoax then he was obviously really nervous. David Letterman is a total douche bag anyways. I would go on his show the same way. I HIGHLY doubt this was drugs!! You people are sooo quick to judge and you think actors have no issues or problems. I bet you same assholes thought Heath Ledger committed suicide too huh?

Careful, your tears might ruin your Teen Beat magazine.
And no, he doesn't have social anxiety because he's done many, many interviews on talk shows and has been fine.

TEENBEAT!?? LOL...I am actually not a huge fan of Joaquin...I just hate how people automatically think the worse.
Maybe he just hates Letterman???...LOL. OR they hoaxed it.
I used to read BOP...for the record. I never liked Teenbeat.

My wife and I watched the show last night and just stared in disbelief. I think Dave was right when he said Joaquin looked like Morrison right before the end. There is something seriously wrong with the guy.

Yeah, if you go to Casey Affleck's IMDB, you'll see he's currently directing "Untitled Joaquin Phoenix Documentary," which revolves around the man's transition from actor to rapper. I've heard it's more of a mockumentary, but I can't confirm that.

Well, I've been listening for several years and figured I'd join. I haven't been on a message board in years, but I figured nobody would enjoy a thread in which I intro myself. So yeah, thought I'd just jump in. By the way, neti pots are genius.

I watched it. The clip made me respect JP for the first time. He called out the keyboard guy for being the cackling ass that he is, and letterman looked like jerk.
Work or not, I enjoyed the appearance a lot. The only cringe I felt was watching Letterman try to find an angle or a funny joke.

Best Week Ever did a great riff on the Joaquin/Letterman sketch.
Paul F. skewered it perfectly.
I can't find the clip itself but, VH1 probably runs it every 4 hours. You'll catch it.

Ive heard the clips and I thought it was great . . . but seeing it is a whole new level of great. I have so much respect for Letterman, he was hilarious. What you saw there would never had happened on Leno. Leno would have sucked his cock.
The best part was the reaction Juaquin had when Letterman said that it wasnt likely that he would have him as a guest for his music. Great!!!!!
