I heard on WFAN that the Mets-Marlins game 4/11/09 (Sat) will be pushed back to 6:05, and that since FOX has a 4pm slot, the first hour will not be shown on SNY, only on the fan
fucking BS, only way I somewhat side with Fox is if it is a Yankee game in the NY market. if not FOX do the right fucking thing
if not FOX do the right fucking thing
There's more of a chance of you giving up bacon and going vegan, than that happening.

His 62 saves last year say otherwise.
I never really sweat that inning. I know whats kinda his m.o., not a great whip guy. Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt til he tears it out. And the umpire had a ridiculous call saying Delgado was off the bag.
Pelfrey really impressed me tonight. He had NOTHING in the first inning and somehow gutted out 5 innings and got the win. That was great to see in his first start.

Your closer throwing garbage like that in game two of the season makes me happy....September is coming!
BTW, any of you guys coming to Citizens May 2nd? It's a Saturday afternoon game, and I think there are tickets left. I'm taking the wife and kids, and would like to have some NY friends come down for some baseball fun.

The ever-increasing WHIP is very worrisome. A pitcher can't keep doing that forever before it bites him in the ass. The save totals don't really offset that since a guy can give up 1 or 2 runs and still get the save.

not for nothing but k rod pitched in the wbc, lidge did not for whatever thats worth
so yeh you can say he should be more game ready and i can say he may be a lil fatigued, back to back games, yeh a day apart

as a typical met fan i got concerned quickly, and I'm concerned about Ollie P.

Ribs

Pulled Pork
In that order, best to worst. There is a place called 'Taste of the City' or some shit down the 1st base line. Place had damn good Italian sub. Also had a pretzel and some fries that were delicious but how could they be bad?

So overall, the place is just fantastic. 2 gripes: the outfield, which I would bet money will be changed within the next couple of years to be a little more uniform. It tries too hard with all the nooks and crannies. Move it in in certain places and please for fucks sake, make it BLUE. And the Pepsi Porch is great. Own food and beer vendors, nice little section. But the ball can get lost when its hit deep in right field. I had to wait for a response a couple times.
It hit me in the 5 inning. My brother and I were talking about getting a foul ball. I said to him that he better not hit this one out of my hand like he did back in '02 when we were in the 3rd row and the place was empty and Larry Walker chucked me a ball to which my brother stuck his meaty paw in front of and knocked away to the Puerto Rican girl behind us. I looked at the seats we sat in. It was right down there....oh wait, no. It was about 100 yards in the complete opposite direction in a place that no longer exists. I have no memories here.
Well now I have one. And I can't wait for what new ones I'll get over the next 40 years in my new baseball home.

According to last night’s broadcast on SNY, hitters are batting .084 during the first time through the lineup against Perez, but .286 the second time through, and .485 the third time through.
The problem is, opponents are batting .300 on the first 30 pitches Maine throws, while just .184 on the next 30 pitches.
Yikes. That pretty much explains it all.
Redding is almost back. I guess he fits into the long role but I don't know who they will bounce from the pen.

I want to give Murphy flack but you just can't. Hes a rookie infielder who is being converted to an outfielder. Going to have to live with his mistakes. Thank god he can hit though. Maybe he needs to be replaced after the 7th or 8th innings every game for someone like Jeremy Reed, who is good in the field.

Francessa criticized the Mets the other day for building a stadium with that much outfield room and having 2 defensive liabilities out there (referring to Murphy and Chirch). Am I being a homer for thinking that Church is in the upper tier of defensive Right Fielders? Francessa is the worst.

He's probably an average RF. He covers solid ground, but generally you want a stronger arm than he has in right.
Not a liability, though.
Now Murphy...that's a liability.
Maybe Fatboy was referring to the potentially disasterous Murphy in LF and Sheffield in RF alignment.

I know Oillie is Ollie and that Maine is still coming off surgery but at some point, the Mets might need to make a trade for a starter. I don't know any of the Free Agent ones available outside of Pedro but he might be needed actually, which i sad to say. Ollie really can't go anywhere with that contract. Maine, who is my favorite on the team, seems like he could be the odd man out.

I really think he's above average at minnimum ... but admitting that I am a fan. Francessa was definitely referring to Church, flat out said it. I am not worried about the outfield defense ... Murph will continue to work on it and has a great attitude, he'll continue to make progress. I do hope that as the year goes on though that Jerry will start replacing defensively late in games.
Church's arm is quite strong actually.
In the NL, defensively, I'd take
-Francoeur
-Werth
-Ethier
-Hart
-Bruce
-Pence
And if Colby Rasmus is taking over full time in RF for the Cards, I'd probably take him too.
So that probably puts Church middle of the pack.

Perez walks 4 guys in a row, the 4th is the opposing teams starting pitcher.
The amazing thing about it is he could have thrown three straight 70 MPH fastballs down the middle of the plate and there's no chance Moyer's swinging because the bases are loaded and he doesn't want to ground into a double play.
Ollie is still the exact same pitcher he was in San Diego and Pittsburgh.
The Mets are going to regret that contract. I'm not going to say they should have signed Lowe, because he's old, and he got more years and dollars.

I hope you're wrong, but Perez has really looked terrible so far this year. He's such an unpredictable pitcher, so I 'm not ready to sulk yet.

i think its safe to say Perez is going to Buffalo for a bit. i remember the Mets did that with Steve Trachel and he came back good. Roy Halladay i think was even sent down a few years ago. so, maybe it could be a good thing.

Murphy and Castro with back to back homers. How much you want to bet that when the ball cleared the wall, castro said to him self "fuck you jerry. that'll teach ya to pitch hit for me"

Cantu hits a homer and a fan with a Mets shirt gets the ball, but won't throw it back? What kind of fans are you guys?
THROW IT BACK! THROW IT BACK! THROW IT BACK!
I dont know if youre being sarcastic or not, so Ill just reply like youre being serious. The whole "throw it back" deal is for Cubs fans. Thats it. Any other fans that do this just look stupid.
All I know is Ive been going to baseball games for over 25 years, and Ive never gotten a foul ball or home run no matter how much I try. (Did get on Sportscenter about 10 years ago fighting with 3 of my friends for a Larry Walker grand slam ball in the Vet) And if I caught a home run ball, I dont care who hit it, that shit is coming home with me and anyone there that didnt like it could blow me.
Funny thing, today some jackass at the Phillies game threw back a home run ball (I think Castros) and the ump seen him and he got ejected. I remember Buck mentioning it.

You're absolutely right. I hate that they've started doing it at Citi Field.

What Servo said. Sometimes the fans do cute things that are absolutely stupid. I wish I was in control of who they let in the park.

Little heart tonight, good to see. Maine pulled it out. Let's build a little and get going already.

yes.
Beltran looks incredible, Maine started slow but hung in there.
I don't even mind the Putz home run- I'd rather he do that than give up walks (when team is up 3)
