I witnessed an auto accident in May of 2007, one of the people involved is apparently claiming injury now. He got my info off the police report and wants to know if I'm willing to give an audio testimony of what I saw.

Should I bother?

If you feel like doing your civic duty, then go for it. Be honest and it can be useful to someone who got hurt.

I think I'm going to agree, but interview him first, if I get the slightest inkling that this person claiming injury is really just injured because of something else, etc etc and is using the accident as an easy in for $$$ I will not do it.

I was summoned for testimony once in an accident case. I was the paramedic who responded and I think I did not help the case. The claimant claimed injuries suffered from the accident yet when I arrived she refused treatment stating she was fine even signing a form refusing treatment. So my 15 minutes in the stand I explained my initial evaluation, my report, and the form she signed. The defense attorney looked quite happy when he asked me a few questions.

Yeah, that's my thing, if my doing this will make a wrong, right, I don't mind, I just don't want to contribute to yet another frivolous insurance claim because someone see's $$$ in their future.

Make sure you run his name on the Internetz. Then search YouTube. Make a thorough search of all the message boards...and
Then make sure you grab his balls and make him cough, and stick an ungloved finger up his ass to check him internally....

all you have to do is tell the truth as to what you saw.
everything else will take care of itself.

You might as well do it. If you refuse, they might just have you supoena'd (sp?).

Do it. You can really save someone a lot of pain if you bring something to light that no one else saw or noticed.
