I think my PS3 is broke yet again. Granted i was playing it for hours and hours but when i exited out of FIFA 09 and tried putting in NCAA Football, the game would try to load but never does. The load fails. I shut the system off for now but this is insane if i had to send it back. I dont have $150 to spend, since my receipt is over the 1 year mark. DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, its officially broken. I turned the system on, games loaded. So, i was happy. But then said there was an error and now every game i put it wont load. Oy. Is there any other way other then shipping it back to Sony for me to get this fixed? I could get another PS3 but then I lose all my settings, saved games etc. and it would basically eat up my whole tax return, which i was hoping to save.

Call them up. Maybe they'll give you a break, since it's the second time. Ask for a manager. Tell them what a big fan you are and you have $1000 invested in games, all your friends are going to buy one too, blah blah blah. Then tell them you'd rather put the $150 towards an Xbox, and sell all your games on ebay. If they're smart they'll eat the $150 knowing you'll buy at least 3 more games and your friends will buy whole systems.

If you want to save your data, you can pick up a flash drive, or an external hard drive if you want to back up the whole thing.

Let us know what happens. So far, I haven't had to send mine in. My first one died in a couple weeks, so I just took it back to the store and got a new one.

May have to do a system restore/default reset to resolve an issue. It could have been caused by a bad update that was included via download, or forced with a game.

This new batch of gaming systems makes me laugh out loud. They fucking overheat when left on too long? Are you kidding me?

2 things:

1. My SNES, Nintendo, Genesis, Gameboy and DS all still work, they sure figured out something right with those. Hows about you do a little more research and testing instead of rushing shit out.

Now I know what you're saying: "That's not fair because the technology has changed since your examples of systems that you own and are still working. They are much more powerful, have newer components and display much better graphics.

Fine:

2. FUCKING COMPUTERS STAY ON FOREVER. They know how to cool motherboards with processors and video cards on them. These cocksmokers just want to cheap out on parts and need to hit that prime money mark for Christmas sales instead of putting what the systems needs in it and giving a realistic price for a system that won't fail.

What was the original failure rate of Xbox 360?

Garbage Moe. All garbage.

I dropped my SNES down the steps, I used to whip my NES with the controller when I would get aggravated. Dropped Game Boys, one PS2 for like 6 years, etc. That shit never ever ever broke.

I've had three Red Rings of Death on my 360, and my PS3 broke the first time I turned it on. Complete ass, and I can't remember any other electronics breaking like this.

I know bro, that's my point as well. I helped 2 people, the only 2 people I knew who owned 360's, put the spacers on their motherboards to stop the Red Ring of Death on their machines. These things are fucking garbage. I laughed my balls off when I heard that one way to fix your 360 was to wrap it in a towel until the solder remelted properly?! Are you joking? Why should people have to open their machines and to fairly intricate work or wrap their machine to melt solder to keep playing?

And it's not too long ago that this wasn't happening. I still have my PS2 sitting next to my TV I never turn on. It's my DVD player for the TV. It was a fucking Ebay special my buddy Grim got for like 20 bucks because it had a read error and he knew how to turn the adjustment knob on it to get it working again.

Why are people allowing themselves to be given crap? No one seems pissed off, they're just buying 360's and PS3's all the time.

Also, Nintendo is known for slow releases but fairly solid hardware and popular games. I wonder why Wii failures aren't rampant? Maybe because they made sure their shit wasn't going to be worthless.

Nintendo has ALWAYS put tons and tons of effort into the quality of their hardware, which I totally appreciate.

Same with me on the PS2 Slim I have. Runs progressive scan for DVD's and what not, what more do you need really?

fuck BluRay. it isn't selling, and will be worthless because who the hell wants it when people can stream movies and have on-demand movies now? And the streaming movies are only going to get better.

But I still have older systems that work (coleco, genesis, snes). I would like to see if my 360 works in 15 years.

Something else that's just baffeling to me is we're talking about how piss poor the PS3 is doing in sales only a few years after it was the undisputed KING of consoles.

What did they do over there? Jesus man, you had it all. Then you released a system no one wanted or could afford.

And how's that PSP working out for ya? AND I OWN ONE!

Ten year life system, they are still talking about how they aren't worried about it. No price drop this year, cuz they can't. Terrible marketing, terrible online interface and social network, terrible movie and download service, three four decent games. Faildozing indeed.

And it was only a few years ago that I remember hearing Microsoft was losing money on ever Xbox they sold, but now suddenly 360 is king as far as gaming systems. Didn't see that one coming.

I mainly got my PS3 for FFXIII and they made it non exclusive. It's basically a blu-ray player for me now, unless they release a PS3 exclusive game. If a game is out on both systems, I always get the 360 version.

It's the same problem with the PS3. Overpriced. And because of that less have sold and because of that game developers aren't putting the resources into making games for it when the DS sales are through the roof. That means less selection of games. Both of Sony's systems have the same major problems.

I had heard a price drop is coming. They really need to do it. They need to get more systems in more households so these game developers have the confidence to make games for Sony.

Sony stated that there is no price drop this year, which I think will be bogus and they will do it. but they will end up losing 250 bucks a pop with each system. maybe more.

There thinking is that the 10 year shelf life tag they put on the system will infact last, and the PS3 will have outsold everything by that time. They just said this a few weeks ago.

Oh, and the bluray thing. Sales were good this past year, but there are more experts predicting that the dvd/bluray market is going to shrink significantly with the on-demand/streaming market becoming stronger. It makes sense.

Of course the stuff will still sell as the players get cheaper.

Its not overheating. And the original XBOX 360 failed around 80%, that was overheating.

Is it well ventilated? Because of the heat it spews out you have to have it in a pretty open area so the air can circulate and it's not just recycling hot air. That can lead to problems.

And if you own it, look into modding the case for more air flow, even adding fans. Don't do that obviously if there's a chance of warranty repair or replacement.

It's just like a computer, opening it isn't going to destroy it, just don't shock anything. Make sure you're touching the thing the whole time so you're grounded on it and you shouldn't shock any components. You just may have some dust build up that can easy be blown away with canned air, blow some of that in the vents and near the fan if you can see it.

I googled that error code, and:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t285555-80010514_error_code

After looking into it, it looks like your BluRay Drive or driver installed on the systems internal hardware may have failed, and it can only be replaced/repaired by contacting Sony and requesting a repair. What sucks is you stand the possibility of having your system replaced with a new or refurbished one...lose all of your data (so back it up), etc.

Good luck. :/ I went through their repair process, and it was rather quick. Got it back in a week and a half if I remember.

Update: So, i just called Sony. I gave them the rap that I'm a loyal customer, bought over $1000 in PS products, and will get a Wii if i have to. I tried my best at arguing but its not my strong suit. Enter my mother. This woman can get anything done, even with her recent heart troubles. She got the manager on the phone, yelled and screamed, and got the guy to waive the fee. The operated then got back on the phone to say he helped convince his manager to waive it but this is a one time deal. I politely said that I'm happy and hopefully I never have to make this call again.

So, in conclusion, my mom rocks.
