Hey doc! What's with the mystery aches and pains I sometimes get? I've had a weird feeling in my left knee for a few days now; like when you hit your funny bone and you get that weird feeling all through your arm. That's what my knee feels like. It also buckled on me today for no good reason.

Is it just because I'm becoming an old fuck and it's going to snow soon?

Is my skeletal system becoming a barometer?

Cuz that would be pretty cool.

Thanks!

The "funny bone" is named after the long bone in the arm, called the humerus...get it? humerus=humorous=funny bone? But what actually makes the weird feeling in your arm when you hit the inside of your elbow is not the bone, but a nerve that is pretty exposed in that area; it's basically a trunk line feeding the lower arm and hand. Poke it and you get that weird electrical feeling.

Why you're having this in your knee is hard to tell over the internet. You could have a pinched nerve somewhere, anywhere from where it exits the spine to the knee itself. If the knee is "giving way", it definitely bears further examination, because you're losing normal function.

Regarding getting old, it just blows. I never have a day where I don't hurt somewhere. If it's not my back, it's my knee, if it's not my knee it's my stupid abdomen, if it's not my abdomen (and it almost always is), it's my idiotic posterior uveitis coming back again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxaHbzMgFhw. I just go with it. Not much alternative, really. Keep your brain active, don't drink too much, quit smoking, get some exercize, don't eat too much crap...you do the best you can. I do see now why the anti-aging people are so fanatical; thing is, they'll take their 40 dietary supplements a day and still croak with the rest of us. I'm cool with it, actually. It's just what it is.

Thanks for the response, buddy. I wound up taping my knee with an Ace bandage and after a day or two all was well again. I guess it was no big deal; just the dampness and bitter cold we were having at the time.

And I'm VERY cool with the aging process. I don't understand why some people fear it so much. It's absurd. We all get old. Well, if we're lucky. Why try and fight it?

By the way, I'd love to hear some input from you on this thread. (http://www.ronfez.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76019) It's slightly different than what we discussed here in your forum, and I'm interested to hear your take.

P.S. - Fuck you for making me click on that link and see you getting a needle into your eyeball.

Sicko.

I like the response to the needle just an "uhh." Which was worse the eye shot or the colonoscopy?

The colonoscopy, by far. At least with the eyeshot I didn't have to stare at a tee vee screen with a giant shot of my hairy asscrack on it for a minute before he started.

You are old, there's no cure for that. I suggest you go the Route of Ponce De Leon.

Ok, seriously, there is this wax place at the mall and the woman that runs it has the most AMAZING tits I've ever seen. I've been looking for an excuse to go. I'm sure she'll be impressed by me walking in with my pal to get the awful hair on our asses removed.
