German Kim Petras was born Tim but wanted to be a woman from the age of two.

The op – carried out in secret last month – was authorised after psychologists confirmed that Kim was "without doubt a girl in a boy's body".

Kim has become the youngest person in the world to have a full sex change operation after undergoing hormone therapy since the age of 12.

I've been thinking this over and I can honestly say that there is not one thing I've kept up with that I did when I was 12 or 14 years old.



I've heard of stories about people who have later regretted the sex change. It's the saddest thing. This one guy decided to go through with it over 20 years ago. And he went ALL out-- he got DDDs and all sorts of plastic surgery so he could pass. They did a GREAT job and she became a stripper. Well, 20 some-odd years later, she decides she's not happy being a woman anymore so she went back to being a guy. Well, she went on testosterone, had plastic surgery to make her look more masculine. The drawback? He's still got chick plumbing and I ddn't think it can be reversed. It's such a sad story. And what makes it worse-- he looks exactly like David Gest. ::shudder::

the difference is this was not a sudden idea of a teenager but a desire since the person was 2 years old.
I think when a boy tries to be a girl for 14 years and the psychologists have been discussing these options with him for well over 10 years then this surgery is not a fancy idea of an insecure teenager.
There are cases of people born with the wrong genitals yet have the other genders genes, as well as hermaphrodites who are born with both genitals.
This one does not seem like a freak decision.

I don't understand the rationale in performing sex change operations on persons of any age. The photos look great, but so do most session photos.

I don't know why physician-assisted suicide is illegal in the US, but genital mutulation is accepted after extended counsiling sessions. Sad... .

What did people do before such surgeries were possible? I bet most people that had these feelings simply lived their lives as the gender they were and just dealt with it. I thinks it is healthier emotinally to deal with it. It strengthens you. I understand that this surgery could bring relief to people who have these feelings, but I have doubts that these things are not the actions of attention seekers. I think about that woman that just had 8 babies. She already had 6. Her own mother thinks that she is addicted to having babies.
