I was reading about Lebron’s 50+ point performance the other night and was thinking about the level of players in the NBA right now. It got me thinking of how the current class compares with the late 80’s early 90’s class, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Karl Malone etc…
I don’t know a ton about basketball so what do other think?

I used to play every day, and see the nets every Sunday. I lost interest in the NBA after I went to college in Oklahoma in 98. Haven't been back.

The original Dream Team was the peak of Basketball's greatness.

Thanks for the insight tom.
Anyway, the big difference is the lack of defense, who's the equivalent of dennis rodman these days?
Can't blame the nba though, people want to see offense it seems.

The quality of athelete in today's NBA is head and shoulders above any other time in NBA history. The quality of play, for the most part, is another story altogether.

The NBA is making a big comeback. The level of team play is higher than it has been in 10 years.

Fo sho. More talent in the league right now since very early 90's. It'll be even more apparent after the summer of 2010 when Wade or LeBron or Bosh move to better markets.

That's pretty much the same for me as well. I used to love watching NBA games and especially the Knicks back in the 90's.

The Atlanta Hawks are poised to make a run at the championship. I have been waiting a long time to pop open the champagne.:drunk:

Once the Bulls finally got past Detroit, who used to FUCK JORDAN UP, the league as a whole got softer. From Early to mid 90's anytime you touched a guy like jordan it was a foul, they never took punishment on a nightly basis like Bron and them take today. The 80's was different. That was the peak of contact basketball, and slowly the league is gettin back to allowing more of that inside today. I like it. And they are tellin the floppers to fuck off.
And the europeans have brought back fundementals and made everyone have to play better. The NBA is on an upturn in terms of product, i believe
