Any other old-school food pics you'd care to share?

The grape and orange cereals are the most disgusting to me.

I used to eat Morning Funnies cereal. It had marshmellow Sunday Comic Strip characters (Lockhorns, etc.)

It's odd that I would have that, as I don't remember ever reading the comic section of the newspaper. But, I was like 5.

If you remember the entire "monster line" (Frankenberry, count chocula, etc) had a mascot. Hell I found an old National Geographic from mid-1970's which showed the mascot to EVERY single cereal on it. Mainly Kellogs, but every single cereal had a cute lil mascot attached to it. Many of those are long gone now.

and you slamed down on it with your hand and the car went across the table...

I remember ALL the bad 70s cereal. My parents had TWO glow in the dark stickers on there head board of BOO Berry and Count Chocula. God my parents were so accepting.

I'd run to the TV and pour a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. No Fruity Pebbles? My dad made me waffles. We had PERFECTED the two dip for waffles or pancakes. The second was a LITTLE darker than the first.

I'd smother it with syrup. And at noon, me and my buds would re-try what we saw SHAZZAM do.

For some reason, head injury didn't matter for much. You'd wake the kid up every 20 mins.

I love this cereal so much that I have to buy 4 cereals whenever I go to back home to New Hampshire. The last time I did the boarder guy was puzzled but he let me through with my tasty contraband :) In Montreal you can only get the plain Cap't Crunch, I have not clue why.

It's kind of weird how a tasty cereal can also double as a mouth shredding weapon.

:::Paging Blowhard. Paging Blowhard:::

"Blowhard you are needed to help us remember some of these old cereals. Please report to this thread. Thank you."

One of the greatest treats was getting a prize in a cereal box, or saving up boxtops to mail in for crappy toys. From a Toucan Sam plastic door knocker to a plastic bathtub submarine powered by mini Alka-Seltzer pellets, cereal was just more than tasty goodness. At one point in the late 60s, Kelloggs actually had a 45 single record embossed on the back of the box, and I remember taking a scissor and cutting out the round pattern and actually playing Motown hits. Very strange. In the mid 70's, the coolest cereal was Freakies, which had a commercial that featured acid trip looking monsters. If you can find the audio("we are the Freakies, we are the Freakies") you'll see how the product was targeted to stoners and strange kids like me. They tasted awful, but hey, the were Freakies, man!

OMG! I mention this to people all the time and they look at me like I have six heads. I knew this existed and now there is a shitty dinosaur version of it.

Pissed me off when they changed the name of Sugar Pops to Corn Pops.

And just look at the shit they put on the back of the boxes now!
Time was, i'd sit there having my cereal with the box in front of me because it would have something cool on the back.
They used to have stuff you could cut out.
I remember one brand had these cool dinasaurs you'd cut out and insert the tab A into tab B and have a nifty 3-D toy to play with.
Cereal box design has gone waaaaaaaaaay downhill, and we are all the poorer for it...
