Is anyone else sick of william from the Black Eyed Peas?

His songs during the election were absolutely unlistenable. Before the election, it was "Yes We Can", and then after it was "We Did It". Hacky, awful lyrics that mean nearly nothing. He's doing a documentary about Obama becoming president, and was on Larry King election night, talking about his accomplishments and singing with kids. This whole time doing whatever he had to do so we would look at him like next Bob Dylan.

And then that fucking Pepsi commercial. The one where they try to show that the 60's are just like today, but the faces have changed. They had Dylan and william side by side, basically stating that this guy is the voice of our generation.

Really? The dude that wrote "Lovely Lady Lumps" is the voice of my fucking generation.

Get over yourself, you thick glasses wearing asshole.

Having a dvr and a ipod I have no idea what you're talking about.

I heard those songs exactly once, when I viewed them on you tube.

And why are you judging lyrics, most lyrics to everything sre shit, why would this be any different.

This day and age its your fault if you subject yourself to something you don't like.

I also had no idea he was from the black eye peas, you've obviously spent time researching this guy, weirdo.

Cool. I heard them on Larry King, and other news shows, as I stated in the original post.

You should listen to different music.
This day and age its your fault if you subject yourself to something you don't like.
I was subjecting myself to election coverage. It was kind of a big deal.

It's pop culture. I know lots of things about pop culture that I wish I didn't. Stuff gets into your head sometimes without you looking for it.

Dont feel bad.

Last month I actually realized what INXS meant. Due to a commercial on XM actually announcing the name.

They had Dylan and william side by side, basically stating that this guy is the voice of our generation.

It absolutely does not.

This is all it was: A young Dylan and another young artist singing Forever Young in two distinct styles. It's a catchy tune with a message that resonates today just as it did 40 years ago.

The snap judgment that people come to when one artist they like collaborate with another they don't is ridiculous. Bob Dylan and Will.i.am both agreed to it... why? Probably because they liked the collaboration and there is always something learned from such an act.

And Dylan broke? Far from it...plus the man did a Victoria's Secret commercial!! I guess people hate lingerie and models for that too?

Watch it again - it's showing how we can be timeless, so you might as well try and stay young throughout the years. And yea, it's hocking Pepsi. But that's what television IS. There wouldn't BE any television if ads weren't sold.

The commercial wasnt directly putting William on par with Dylan, but to have them on a split-screen together and having William "rap" over Forever Young was pretty fucking stupid to me. I may have an unhealthy obsession with Bob Dylan but to even remotely imply that a black eyed pea is anywhere near the same universe as him is just laughable. I hated it.

This is what I'm talking about. Will.i.am doesn't rap "over" Forever Young. It's an entirely NEW track. A different version.

And I'm guessing you've seen Dylan in concert? Have you ever heard him play his songs just like the album versions?

No. In fact, I'd bet that Dylan LOVES Will.i.ams' version.

I had no clue who William was until I read this thread.

Ignorance really is bliss.

When I heard the Dylan commercial I was a little disappointed but the days of music being sacred and anti-commercialism are long over in our society.
So fuck it, I'll never hear that commercial again and Forever Young will remain sacred to me.
Sell it all, it doesn't matter anymore.

I have no problem with whatever Bob Dylan does or how he changes his tunes up in concert. I have no problem with Dylan loving William. I just hated that commercial and song. It sounded like some Kid Rock rip-off track. And I hate the juxtaposition of Bob Dylan and William. And I hate Pepsi.

I would rather have both testes ripped off by a kangaroo than put those fucking periods in his name. It's William

Ok. I watched it again.
I must respectfully disagree with you. That commercial sucks, and is angering.

I'm not exactly sure how you see it, but to me it's trying to say "The times may change, but things stay the same."
They had the skateboard kids from the 60's, and it showed the evolution of what skateboarding is now. They had Frankie and Annette dancin' at the beach, and then they showed a dance movie from the current time. Bruce Lee from then, Gina Corano now (I can totally see it. He's a man who was a philosopher who essentially created his own form of martial arts, she's a hot chick who has won some fights).

The collaboration doesn't bother me so much. It's not the most terrible song ever.

But I don't see how you can't see that and not see that they are blatantly comparing things. Therefore, I see Bob Dylan, voice of his generation, I can connect the dots.

In your defense, I spent well over an hour thinking of a 15 min Aqua Teen Hunger Force epsiode. I tend to look too deep into nonsense. It's possible that that's all this is.
