The thing that no one is discussing is how traumatized (or is it "dramatized"?) Julianna will be seeing Dave without the beard. For a good portion of her life he's been bearded Daddy, she may have a little initial stranger apprehension when she sees him beardless for the first time.

No, she's not too young to recognize same/different.

When I was an infant, probably around Jules's age, maybe younger, everyone I'd seen daily in my life wore glasses.

Shortly before we visited with my uncle, he'd gotten contacts.

The INSTANT he held me, I started screaming and my parents couldn't figure out why for a while ... then my poor uncle (who is also my godfather) had to run and get an old pair of frames so I would be OK with him holding me.

My Dad got fired from a job when I was four and then shaved his beard, probably to look better for interviews, but I cried like a little girl because I thought that fired meant they burned his face and that's why his beard was gone. Run-on sentence, sorry Miss Matty.
