View Full Version : How can I stay on the wagon...2 MONTHS is the goal !
Rooster Sucks

Ok ok ok ok ... I like frosty beverages like Heineken and Sam Adams..
I have decided to go on the wagon for 2 months...no matter what..
what are some alternate activities to replace the urge to have a self made drinking party!
I have been drinking water like a crazy man....and diet coke is great...it just gets me strung out on caffeine though!!
ok ....honestly...I would like some ideas

Caffeine Free Diet Coke is my personal favorite...I drink it by the gallon. And decaf Hazelnut coffee...regular decaf tastes like crap. Aside from that, there's nothing else you can do but suck it up and be miserable!

Why decaf? I find that the best way to stop doing something addictive is to replace it with another bad habit. If you need one let me know.
Spooner! Welcome aboard, and it's about time!
I only suggested Decaf because Rooster said he was getting strung out on caffeine.

I went sober for 2 months once. It wasn't that hard. But then again, I wasn't hanging out with drinkers at the time. I recommend caffeine free coke. Not the diet crap, the real thing. A nice sugar buzz is always fun.

Just forget about the wagon, Rooster Sucks. You're a loser, face it. You might as well just drink.

Rooster, I suggest you hit the bottle harder than ever, considering you've lost pretty much everything already in 2002. Now, please move along and let Alkey run the show. =)
Yes, there's even room for Alkey on RF.net!

I'd've said he can't make it 2 hours, but he already told me it's been 2 days...

You have to quiet your mind young Jedi. Otherwise your mind will actively seek stimulants such as alcohol and the caffeine. What I mean by quieting your mind, is block out the things you cant control in your life. Do the things you can do, and let the rest fall to the wayside.
I dont drink, but its choice I made. I prefer to take life for what it is and enjoy whatever happens. I ve seen the ravages of alcoholism up close, and have decided I just dont need alcohol. Social drinking is just fine with me.

I find that watching others get drunk can be fun. Start talking nonsense or moving quickly, and watch their reactions.
I have a friend who gave up smoking and drinking for 2002. I'd hate to work with him...

Another tip to help you stay sober... stay away from that damn lush Irishalkey. He'll get you loaded and then try to sway your sexual preferences. Believe me, I'm a surviving victim of his.

Going cold turkey is hard. If you frequently drink the hard stuff, go to beer for a while, then ease off of that. If you drink only beer, go to light beer (like sex in a canoe- Monty Python ref). I'm still waiting for Nicoderm to branch out to the beer patch, or Rum and Coke patch.

Sobriety happens by accident...i tried to consciously kick the habit and failed miserably...then finals came, and i remained sober for 2 weeks (longest span in over a year)I say, do anything that will keep your mind of drinking, its real easy then...

I went completely sober for 6 months a few years ago...it was suprisingly easy. I still went to all the parties and hung out with all the drinkers...all it takes is a firm resolution not to do it, and the type of sense of humor that takes pleasure in making drunk people fall over.....its got my DD duties out of the way for a long time too
