Does anyone else have an Internal Family Care Fund?

Does anyone else's family have one of these systems?
We all send in a portion of our yearly pay to care for the other members of the family that are old or having problems....
It is decided upon who gets what from the 4 oldest competent members of the family. Goes out yearly.
I have heard that mostly Irish do it.
