I've finally reached a point in my life where I think I ought to have a flask. Anyone else on this board own or carry a flask? What size would you recommend? 4oz? 6oz? 8oz? Where are some places where a flask is essential?

And what point is that? Rock bottom? The romanticizing of a flask is fine, but when would carrying a flask not classify you as a drunk?
Funerals, wakes, concerts, sporting events might be ok. Oh yeah, and train hopping.

I've finally reached a point in my life where I think I ought to have a flask. 1. Anyone else on this board own or carry a flask? 2. What size would you recommend? 4oz? 6oz? 8oz? 3. Where are some places where a flask is essential?

First off, good for you. When I reached that point some time ago, I was excited.

Now to answer your questions:

1. Yes

2. 8oz

3. Most places. Some people would say not to take one into church. But, I say taking one into church would make you a patriot.

Good luck with your new found crutch.

I have a bunch of flasks. They are essential for all alcoholics in EVERY situation.

Want to go to the movies? Bring your flask!
A walk in the park? Dont forget Mr. Flask!
Picking the kids up from school? Let your flask be your co-pilot!

My favorite little flask is my key chain flash I got from Dave and Busters. There's nothing like having a back up shot of Jameson on your key chain.

I'm in college, so it's not alcoholism... yet.

So, you need something to edge off in between binge drinking? Yeah, its not alcoholism.

Words of a god. I have 3, one of them looks like a cordless phone. I just slip it down into my boot and I can have a sip whenever I need it.

ehhh, some of you are to uptight

but back to the questions...

Yes, IMO, flasks have a time and place. For me that can mean the golf course, on the river fishing, football/hockey game or where I usually have one or two is packed in my suitcase. I enjoy a drink or two in the evening and one, I don't like paying mini-bar prices; two, they rarely have any decent scotch; three, its a pain in the ass to buy a bottle and bring back what you haven't drunk.

I have a couple of 6oz hip flasks that are nice and a leather wrapped 10oz I take traveling.

Saratoga Springs is a nice area. A good buddy of mine grew up in Ballston Spa.

I'm from Ithaca, myself.

Flasks are immortalized in movies by the cool characters, so yes, Flasks are fucking cool.

If you find yourself drinking at a supermarket at one in the afternoon, I suggest going to AA.

Why conceal it? Though not socially acceptable, I wear mine on my belt for all to see! Makes me a real man!!!

Why do rubes need a utility belt? Flask, knife, phone, huge belt buckle.

In the boot is a southern thing that you do not understand I guess. Tucking it in the boot is the best way to get into the stands at a football or baseball game, concert, etc. where your own beverages are not allowed.

I make my own whiskey so I bought a flask. If ever I want to share my product it is convenient as hell to have. Plus I love being able to carry a mini stash of booze with me :)

It is an 8 oz flask with no decorations, Just stainless steel filled with 115 proof goodness.

Time for a sip....whos with me?
