MLB The Show - Which position?

I'm just curious.

What position do people usually choose in Road to the show?

I tried it as a SS, but I stunk up the joint and dove into franchise mode out of sheer embarrassment.

(I got tired of the manager yelling at me)


Anyway with '09 coming out, I thought I'd see what everyone else's experience has been like.

I played CF and that was pretty easy to move up.

The Show would piss me off when I'd hit .450 with 45 HRs, and they'd send me down to the minors because I didn't meet a couple of goals.

I have always played as a pitcher. It's fun to pitch for my beloved Boston Red Sox. Starting out as a crappy first-tier Minor Leaguer. Pitching your heart out...getting hammered and then slowly improving over time. Getting called up one level.....then getting sent back down. Then, when you FINALLY make it to The Show and play in beautiful, historic Fenway Park...and you have to hope you don't blow it, because every game can be your last!

I can't wait for '09 to come out. I'm sure it's going to far improve upon what is currently THE best baseball game on the market. I only have PS2...so I can only imagine that it is miles better on PS3! Maybe someday...but for now...this VideoPimp can't afford a PS3!

When I played I always had a hard time making it to the majors with them. So i used other team with less of a log jam (Twins), make it to the majors then extort whatever team you want for the most money or choose where you want to play when you're good enough

I am thinking about buying a PS3 specifically for this game when it come out the reviews are good enough.

It was the best baseball game I ever played when it was on PS2 and I am curious to see how good it would be on the new system.

I am easily the greatest pitcher of all time and I've won 6 WS titles.....3 with the Yankees and 3 with the Mets (I jumped to the NL for 3 years cause I wanted to bat).

i hope in 09 they make it more realistic, so when you hit 445 with 40 homers in AAA for the yankees, they trade you to some shit city for an overpaid superstar

so can you opt to simulate games or do you have to actually play all 162 games

you can simulate or just play them. All you do is what your guy does. So if you dont get many defensive chances, you hit 4 times and game over

so it doesnt go pitch by pitch, just if its hit to you you field it and try to make the play other wise you just see your 4 at bats ??

I really hope they've changed some of the little annoyances. I don't feel like hearing, "here's last year's MVP runner up" 12 years after Ortiz was the runner up.

Also, it looks like they have real advertising for the game. I wonder if that will change through the year, updated with new ads. That would be pretty cool.

Thats one of the things I noticed also, the ads for Ax Men. I have read that its going to be an updated thing as long as your online. I really am looking forward to this game.

When you break records, the game doesn't know how to act.

For instance, I broke the RBI single season record. In a game, I hit a double, but didn't hit anyone in or anything. A graphic popped up on the screen saying I had tied the record and the announcer said the same thing. The HR record is similar, too. It just keeps saying, "with that shot, he stands alone with the record". And they don't even get that excited. I feel like Barry Bonds.

they know you are on roids. You cant not be on roids and still break those records. So the game makes you feel shitty about it
