Lots of news articles saying "rabbit blah blah"...Anyone who makes Rabbit references and thinks they're being witty- fuck you. This goes out to anyone who liked to say "So it goes" when Vonnegut died too- fuck you. It's not even remotely clever and stop thinking you're so fucking cool that some line you fucking lifted should become somebody's eulogy. You're worse than those fucking cheesy movie puns.

What? Fuck, oh yeah. I'll miss Updike.

When you look at a list of Nobel Prize winners and see who's won one while Updike never did, you realize that that award is a piece of shit.

Oh yeah? Waddaya gonna do about it? Quit yer job at the A&P? :innocent:

Updike wrote interesting books, stories, etc. about people that I usually don't find all that interesting. Godspeed sir - ya done good.

A very nice short story based on the experience of 9/11 (http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200211/updike)

The first and last of the Rabbit books got Pulitzers - not too shabby.

Skeeter from the second rabbit novel: The face of God is chaos.

Some of the best exchanges were between Skeeter, the old black Viet Vet and Rabbit as he flopped there smoking pot round the clock. I am resolute in bringing this moment forth as part eulogy. The man's Rabbit series were enthralling and are highly suggested - especially if you're in your twenties (white... well -that's debatable as being important) male and wondering why your world doesn't fit the way you thought it should.
Old news.

I just found out about this today.
